Step Climb Question

When I set a step climb in the FMC by typing /410S for example, it accepts the value but all following waypoints remain at the original altitude (fl390). This doesn't feel right. Can anyone help?

Full names in the PMDG forums please.

 

Do not include the "/" when entering 410S.... and be sure this is not above the maximum altitude as shown on the VNAV pg 2/3.

Is this what you're seeing? If it is, it means that the step climb is not available due to your weight.

And remember that you cant step climb if you are too close to your destination

99.9% /FL410S is above MAX alt!

 

Typically operators plan for, and crews operate at 500-1000' margin to MAX alt.
