SLI, or not?

Coming from 2x980 in SLI I now run my 5880+1080  triple screen setup on a single 1070@2150  watercooled with more stable FPS than before.  Maybe this would be different for 4K screen.

 

But most impact always will be achived by better or overclocked CPU.

Added second GTX970 today. As expected FPS doesnt go down when clouds density inreases. At least not so much as with single GPU. And this is what SLI helps with.

Just a small question to SLI owners,

 

When you are not in SLI Mode

 

Do you see any performance gain/loose if you also disable the overall SLI in the Nvidia Controlpanel ? (not the program specific settings)

Michael, that's how I checked mine and saw the gains with SLI.

The only games that SLI actually works for me are GTA5 and Project Cars. Skyrim loses fps with SLI, P3D and FSX are a wash, same fps with or without, Xplane uses only one card no matter how I set it up. All playing at 4k. 

 

The trend from Nvidia is one card solutions as their SLI support declines. I would trade all three of my 980 gtx's for one 1080 and be compliant with many, many more games.
