bought a 4k monitor, poor performance

Featured Replies

Maybe.  I'm not too familiar with anything other than the 1060.  Others can probably comment more on that.

I bought a samsung 4k monitor and was so stoked to try it out on P3d v3.4. I wish I had not bought it, I went from 30 FPS down to 16 FPS. I am running a GTX 970. I didn't know that it would cause this much of a performance hit. Am I out of luck with this or can I squeeze some performance out of my 970?

Please help

you really need a gtx 1070 or higher for 4k, I am using a gtx 1070 for 1440p.this youtube channel explains a lot which card to buy with what monitor, these are not my opinions. this guy does a lot of testing. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCss3QxegBkF8BAetIo0qXA/videos

I'm using a GTX960, running all large payware airports with the Aerosoft A320 (and other aircraft), using average to above average settings, REX TD/SC and ASN and/or AS2016 and I have no problem maintaining 30fls (I'm locked at 30). In the default P3D F-22 I'm getting 140+fps.

My 4k is a Samsung 55 inch T.V.

glad to hear its working well. without getting into a tv vs monitor dispute, a 4k tv is not the same as a 4k monitor, i can put them side by side and see the difference between a tv and a monitor.i had a 4k monitor for p3d with the 970 a couple years back and also had poor results.i hooked my pc up to a 50 inch 4k tv and it was smooth as butter at 30fps. i can't explain it. now i just have a 1440p 32 inch monitor with a gtx 1070 and its smooth as butter in p3d and x-plane. i can't explain why it happens this way.

clouds kill perf for me. I cant have more thsn 1 layer in ASN. This is the case with all AA off. P3d really needs to do something about clouds and their hit to performance. its a flight simulator for crying out loud. We have to be able to fly into weather without it killing performance.

Hello Brett,

Yeah, good point as I've heard this before, and have no doubt it's true, but I too have no idea why it is, but I've also heard it the other way (no problem with 900 Series and monitor).  There are so many brands and specs, so who knows!
