Radar Contact problems

Featured Replies

I am trying to fly the intro flight for MCE/Radar Contact.

I don't have any problems contacting RC initially but once we get going, I cannot acknowledge their instructions except by using the RC4 menu.

MCE just doesn't get through.

Has anyone got a work-around to get it to work as it should?

Hi Ian.

I use RC4, have used it in FSX and now P3d. There are a few things I found with RC4.

Firstly, have you done all the voice training? I recently had to re do it all again! My voice/microphone has changed a bit and RC4 was missing words.

When you press PTT, do you hear the tone? Also can you read the on screen dialogue that you have just spoken and does the ATC window "blink" after your message? These are signs RC4 has received your message.

Also, don't try and use PTT whilst a flow/Vox Script is running. RC4 will not hear you during a running flow!

Another one is assign a reliable button to the PTT. Some joystick buttons are poor, some good. Make sure you have that "tone". I set it at its loudest, so I know if the PTT gets stuck it isn't transmitting.

Lastly, have you tried delegating the radio to the FO? Say "your radio" and Stuart, William or Lorna will handle the radios for you, if you have the voice pack in RC4.

I am sure I have missed other things to try.

Hope that helps.

Regards

David

Thanks David,

I can use the "your radio" command OK but then I get the "native" RC voice and end up with an MCE FO and an RC4 FO in the same cockpit. Is there no way round this?

From the voice pack download.

Here are the instructions from the A team;

""To install the voice Packs for RC4, please proceed as follows...

Go to \RC4 installation\Winwood\ folder

Rename folder "50" to "Backup-50"

Copy the folder named "50" to \RC4 installation\Winwood\ folder.

Go to RC4 user interface.

Under Voices, go to <Co-pilot> tab and select "MCE William V4"

If using Multi Crew Experience, and you want to avoid RC4 transmitting again when you have done so using speech recognition, you will need to replace one more folder.

Go to \RC4 installation\Winwood\ folder

Rename folder "51" to "Backup-51"

Copy the folder named "51" to \RC4 installation\Winwood\ folder.

Folder "51" contains very short files containing nothing but recorded silence.

Go to RC4 user interface.

Under Voices, go to <Pilots> tab and select "My Voice V4"

Rename folder "52" to "Backup-52"

Copy the folder named "52" to \RC4 installation\Winwood\ folder.

Go to RC4 user interface.

Under Voices, go to <Co-pilot> tab and select "MCE Lorna V4"

If you prefer to replace other voices, instead of the "50", "51", "52", feel free to amend the instructions accordingly.""

Hope that helps.

Cheers

David

Thanks a lot. David.

I've done all that and will test it tonight.
