Fond memories of Canadian Winters and children tobogganing with Castro?

Featured Replies

I thought this was pretty funny. Back when Jets used to refuel at Gander Airport in Newfoundland Fidel Castro was a regular using the airport as a stop over. He also used to delay the stop over because he loved the snow and would go tobogganing with the local school children. This is one woman's memory of Castro:

Bizarre to say the least

Thanks for sharing, I read about Gander in old novels, must have been an interesting airport back then. As to Castro, all those characters have their passion for something different.

Reminds me of the song "Ἤitler in the Springtime" from the movie "The Producers".

Remember stopping over at Gander in 2006 on the way to Saudi Arabia. Never would have guessed!

Yes I had a vision of a child and his slid running to the slopes and up the hill, out of breath only to look up to a dictator with a huge grin and his cigar asking to take his slid. Like I said, Bizarre
