PMDG 777-300ER Crash no reason

Recommended Posts

Dear PMDG,

I will of course log a ticket but just wanted to give an observation that has happened to me at least four times and is reproducible. My issue firstly is that flying the PMDG 777.300ER variant (last time in American livery) from Aerosoft EGLL to Flightbeam KSFO in Prepar3d V3.4 with latest hotfix the sim crashes normally after about 5 hours, its NOT VAS nothing to do with OOM but just keeps crashing I cannot complete a flight on this route. I CAN however complete the route no problem in the PMDG 777-200LR (any livery). The other thing to note is that if I reverse the route the PMDG 77-300ER makes it without crashing which is a bit odd considering how VAS heavy the Aerosoft EGLL is.

I have the latest version of both airports and always use the following addons which are active throughout all tests.

ORBX GLOBAL

ORBX England (latest version)

ORBX Norcal

Aerosoft EGLL

Flightbeam KSFO

UT2 (Airline traffic 100%) latest 2016 schedule

PMDG 777 (all variants)

AS2016 (SP1 open BETA latest download)

ASCA

FSrealtime

FSUIPC (Latest version)

My P3D settings are LOD Radius - HIgh, Frame rates - unlimited

Tessalation - HIgh

Mesh - 60

Texture resolution 19

Scenery

all normal expect Scenery Complexity - Dense

I have an i5 - 3.4G processor, Nvidia 650Ti graphics 2GB, SSD, 16GB memory.

Any ideas guys, I'm starting to think perhaps there is something that needs looking at in the 300ER variant and maybe PMDG working with LM on ensuring all aircraft are compatible.

Thanks guys

Blessings

Usually best to suss out an issue before pointing fingers. If this were truly the case (a compatibility issue), we'd be seeing reports exactly like yours all over the place when we really don't.

Can you post a crash report?

Start Menu > Type "View Prob" (and it should pull up "View All Problem Reports") > Find P3D and select the latest crash. Copy and paste here.

Ditto Kyle's question, the crash report is the first step.

Why are you convinced it is not VAS related? Simply because there is no "your program has run out of memory" message does not rule out the VAS error, and it is possible to have a VAS error with more than 800MB remaining under certain conditions.

Traffic at 100% is a memory hog for some.

BTW just another observation I tried at night and NO issues with PMDG 777-300ER variant same route everything the same and not one issue just landed. The flights I mentioned before were in the daytime so perhaps something to do with LM.

Yeah, that happened because those errors definitely aren't errors caused by us. Stackhash and BEX errors are more generic. A while back (last year or so) I ran into a few issues with a beta version of a weather add-on (Stackhash).

I recommend taking a look here:

Hello,

I just experienced, the same issue when flying to KSFO with PMDG B777-300ER. However, I started from LSZH. The crash happened yesterday and today more or less at the same place (southern part of Canada).

I am running the following system:

Intel i7 4790K (4GHZ)

16MB RAM

Windows 8.1

Prepar 3D v3.2

Aerosoft LSZH scenery

Flightbeam KSFO scenery

My traffic 6

Active Sky Next

Pro ATC/X

Eventviewer and crash reports are below.

Would you maybe have an idea what could have caused the crash? I never had such crashes before.

Kind regards,

Tilo Wilfert

Would you maybe have an idea what could have caused the crash? I never had such crashes before.

Please see post #5 in this thread. Be sure to click on the link in that post.

Just as a tip for people:

If you've been using any kind of software (that doesn't auto-update in the background - ours don't do this), and it has been working fine but then suddenly starts behaving oddly, then it's not caused by the program you're running. It's caused by a change elsewhere.

If you go back to your old grammar school science classes, you always tested your hypothesis on the variable. In this case, your program's code didn't change, but it started crashing (and citing other people's dlls in the process). With this in mind, simple scientific method points elsewhere. While the crash using the program is perhaps the most visible factor, it isn't necessarily the cause. Look for the items that you changed: did you add scenery? ...a weather program? ...a pilot client? ...perhaps a beta version of some other program that interacts with the sim?

This isn't console stuff here. You're given an immense amount of power to tailor your experience. With this customizability comes a little bit of responsibility and maintenance. Keep track of what you install so that you know where to start looking if problems suddenly come up.

Hi Scandianvian and Pcubine,

thanks very much for your hints. I see, that there is no simple solution to fix the issue and quite some research needs to be done to find the reason for the crashes:/ At least it was worth a try hoping that someone with exactly the same issue (crash on the way to KSFO) found a solution. So, I will look further into it hoping to find the cause and up to that point, I will just avoid this route;)

Kind regards,

Tilo
