December 5, 20169 yr Hi All, I wanted to write a quick note to say hi. I'm Zack, a totally blind flight sim enthusiast from the US. I'm only able to play with FSX at all thanks to the add-on community, in particular a lovely program called Its Your Plane. It allows me to control many planes largely by voice command, which while it isn't realistic is probably the closest I'm going to get. I was really into FSX back in 2009 or thereabouts, and have just been bitten by the bug again. I used to love exploring add-ons for ATC and traffic and the like, and need to work on rebuilding my collection. It's a mildly expensive hobby, however. Scenery and so forth isn't very useful for me, obviously, but I adore anything with a big audio component, or that I can use for a more "realistic," experience. I'm hoping to have a fun time around here
December 5, 20169 yr Hi Zack, Welcome to AVSIM! We are honored to have you aboard. I do not think we have any other members who are blind. It's a great achievement for you to be able to use FSX even using the It's Your Plane software. I hope you continue to enjoy flight simulation! Thanks for posting! December 6, 20169 yr Author Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm very aware that IYP is doing most of the actual "flying," for me, but don't know of any practical alternatives unfortunately. I know some blind simmers seem to actually have flight simulated hardware, though it's possible they have some vision to make such a little more useful. I guess I'll jus keep experimenting and see what I can get working
