I can't figure out how to make it blue.

You'll need to be more specific. Is the water everywhere tan or just inland water, streams, oceans, etc.

FSX or FSX-SE?

New install and is tan or old install that was blue before and is now tan?

Hey Mitch, How about deleting the Shader file, and letting it rebuild ?? - Johnman

don't know what or where the shader file is. not very savvy about the innards of FSXSE

Hey Mitch,
This Should Get You Where You want to Go !

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\Shaders

I would Rename the Shader Folders or Move them to, like the Desk Top, To make Sure that things go the way You want them to ! Just to give You an Undo ! - Johnman

Hi Mitchb

Just done a bit of experimenting re water colours in FSX, using UT USA.  Water colours change in real life, I live on the NW coast of England and tjhe sea colour changes day by day, that said I have compared water colours in FSX around Miami which give various blues,  lakes around Jackson WY giving blues and greys, Lake Champlain VT/NY giving a light muddy colour.  It may be worth you trying different geographical areas and do a comparison, if the tropical water is muddy obviously something is wrong.  Sorry I can't help any further, hope you resolve it.

Hi, continueing with muddy water,  if you haven't done this try, set Season to Summer/Day, take off from KBTV Burlington and fly over Lake Champlain, pause sim and goto Options/Settings/Display/Scenery/Water Effects/ slider to Mid2x or try other settings, also try different filtering settings.  Water effects set in the 1 range is brown mud, I set Mid2x with Trilinear to produce a colour similar to the real thing, at least as far as I can remember on my sail on the lake in 2008 , it definitely wasn't blue but worth the trip.
