December 6, 200520 yr I am attempting to make movies with a combination of FRAPS, Windows Movie Maker and Blaze Media Pro. My issue is that when using FRAPS, I was wondering what the best settings are.My current FRAPS settings are 60FPS with Full Size. However when I try to record in FS my FPS in the sim drop like crazy while using FRAPS. Are there any artists out there who use FRAPS or can recommend possibly another capture program that can capture high quality footage?I want quality, but if my FPS in FS drops so much, that kind of kills off the quality thought. I tried recording videos at "Half Size" and that improved FPS in FS, but the video quality sucks at half size.Any tips?
December 6, 200520 yr Commercial Member I use FRAPS for my videos and don't have a problem. How much ram do you have?Your best bet is to checkout the Videos forum at fs2004.com.Lots of discussion there on how to make good videos.Cheers,Bryan B. December 6, 200520 yr Running the setup currently listed below my sig banner - -with 4GB DDR 400.Thanks for the lead. Never knew there was a video forum over there. Going to go check it out now :-)
December 6, 200520 yr If you want quality, then FRAPS is not the way to go. I connect my camcorder directly to S-Video and tape it and then capture it back to the computer for the best DVD-like quality. You can improve the FRAPS performance by saving the captures to a harddrive not running FS, but it still won't give you the same quality than capturing to DV.Cheers.
December 6, 200520 yr I just got another program called Easy Video Capture. It seems to use a LOT less resources. I am happy with the results so far in my first two tests.
December 6, 200520 yr RememberScrrenshots are about eye candy, pumping up the Aa, sliders to the rightVideos are not. They are all about smoothness. Back your sliders off.Fraps will give you a hit on framerates to a certain degree. You can also try TAKSI which is similar but has not sound recording feature.
