What to do if the copilot doesn't start "Approach Checklist"

Featured Replies

Yesterday I took a flight and, when I got down to 20 miles from the airport, the copilot wouldn't start the "Approach Checklist".  The window said "Approach" but, no matter what I tried, I couldn't get him to run it.  I said "Activate Approach Phase" just in case and he acknowledged that but still wouldn't do the checklist.  I went on with the approach, he put the gear and flaps down on command, I said "Landing Checklist" at 4 miles and he recognized that without a problem.  So, is there something that might block him from starting the approach checklist?  Is there anything I can do to reset or force him to start it?

Thanks!

Hi Gregg,

What did you see in the Green Bar?

My guess is that your voice just didn't register properly, possibly.  Always check the Green Bar to see what the system is "hearing".

And double check you're following everything to the letter:
