December 30, 200520 yr If they said "holiday 2006," I'm guessing next November in time for the Christmas gift-buying season.Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia Lewis "Moose" Gregory Durham, North Carolina
December 30, 200520 yr Agreed - Over here in the US, when you refer to the "Holiday" season, you are nearly always talking about November/December... Christmastime! Besides being a cool name - Flight Simulator X - the presumed late 2006 release precludes them from keeping in line with their recent "new every two" 1998/2000/2002/2004 naming trend. Awaiting (public) word from Microsoft!-Greg(and with that public word, I hope to heck we get to see some screenshots!)
December 30, 200520 yr Just copying what I posted in the other thread...Frankly, all that can be said of everything published thus far about the next version of Flight Simulator -- regardless of its source -- is that it is pure speculation. The only time we will have accurate information will be if and when Microsoft makes an official announcement. It is certainly not unknown for even the most reputable magazines and websites to be "inaccurate" at the best of times! This is how the software business and the journalism trade works, and this case is no exception.Matt
December 30, 200520 yr Author Some things to consider in Microsoft's recent history.1. The survey - came from an outside marketing company - almost a full month before Microsoft officially acknowledged the survey2. FSInsider.com - decried as a bogus site for almost two months - finally setup and acknowledged on the Microsoft.com site - "official" announcement of the site came from an outside marketing company - did not appear on MS site for a couple days3. Microsoft Game Studios - this company was setup at least two years ago - all MS game development was moved under this company - including Flight Simulator - this company is not directly under the normal MS marketing envelope - using outside companies for most of it's press release and a media communicationsIs there speculation in the SimFlight announcement? - YesIs it a hoax? - DoubtfulWhy haven't Avsim and FlightSim and FSPlanet (yes that remains one of MS primary FS 'partner' web sites) received the press release? - Who says they haven't.This forum, while hosted by Avsim, is NOT the corporate primary communication method with the "audience" - at least in my experience.
