December 30, 200520 yr I've searched and can't find an Ultra, anyone know of one out there?Or just a panel that is simular to the Ultra, thanks.
December 30, 200520 yr Well don't know about a V but there's an X and some other very nice bizjets herehttp://www.eaglesoftdg.comAVGAS
December 30, 200520 yr Thanks, but the instrument panel is quite a bit different on the X, the Ultra is a 3 glass panel.
December 30, 200520 yr Author Moderator There is a freeware Citation V panel available here at avsim.com in the file library. A review of it is also available by searching the Reviews (top menu bar on your screen!).Eaglesoft is working on a Citation XLS, which is the great-grandchild of the venerable V Ultra... ;) Fr. December 31, 200520 yr Thanks for the help, I am interested in the 560 XL, but while searching the panel reviews you mentioned I came across this beauty freeware FS2004 ERJ-145 panel from Bill Grabowski, copy and paste the link below into your browser to download the free panelfiles.fsnordic.net/Flight_Simulator/Panels/Embraer/I will go with the it for now, it has the same Honeywell PFD, MFD and nav/com avionics package that the 560 Ultra has, like that .6 AOA indicater of the PFD, great vref indicater. The Ultra isn't as old as you say, she's only been around since 1994, just got a job flying one with NetJets, tons of them flying today, not a very pretty plane but has a very nice avionics package.http://www.avsim.com/pages/0102/erj-145_panel/erj-6.jpg
December 31, 200520 yr I believe Eaglesoft also has a Citation Bravo. It isn't quite as fast as the Ultra and does have trailing link gear but does have the exact same avionics as the Ultra.Congrats on the Netjets job. Should build a good bit of time in a hurry. What is the expected upgrade timetable for newhires these days? Happy landings, Mike Eppright (KAAO)
December 31, 200520 yr Didn't see a Bravo on their site, they have the old II with steam gauges. The upgrade at NetJets is roughly 5 years I've heard, kind of hard to tell, they're still hiring pilots and getting new planes, there are around 2300 pilots and the current upgrades in the Beechjet and Ultra are in the 1100-1200 range, the captain pay is pretty good though under the new contract.
December 31, 200520 yr Your probably right about the II. The II actually is visually closer to the Ultra anyway except the panel.I take it your new position is your first jet job? Where did you go to school? Happy landings, Mike Eppright (KAAO)
January 1, 200620 yr No not the first jet job, the regional airline I was flying for didn't pay half of what I started at here, NetJets first year FO base pay is 46,300., you're lucky to see that in two years as a regional jet first officer, couldn't afford to feed the family.

Well, the Excel's paint had barely dried before being replaced by the XLS.. In any event, Cessna ia changing/upgrading models faster that I can keep up... ;)One of these days, I'd like to take the CII and update it to either a Bravo or Encore. :) Fr. January 1, 200620 yr They do change a lot, I don't even know the difference in airframes between the Encore, Ultra and the Bravo. I think the Encore and Ultra are the same airframe but the Encore has more powerful engines. The old II looks a lot like the Ultra but it's a smaller airframe I believe.
January 1, 200620 yr Citation differences:All 500 Citations except the 560XL have the same fuselage cross section. The 560XL has the cross section of either the "10" or the 650 depending on perspective.First came the 500. The 501 has a bit more power and a longer wing. The 550,551 "II" has a stretched fuselage and added power and payload. The SII is the "II" on vitamins and has a "TKS" weeping wing for anti-ice.The 560 "V" has a power increase and a 20" cabin plug (If I remember correctly) allowing significant additional passenger leg room. Outside visual difference is the II has six cabin windows on each side and the V has seven. The 560 was the first straight wing Citation to cruise comfortably above 400 knots. It can routinely cruise at 425 kts.Again the Ultra is the "V" on vitamins plus the Primus 1000 avionics system. The Bravo is still a 550 but trailing link landing gear was added. The trailing link gear requires a larger wheel well displacing close to 300 lbs of fuel. With the Bravo, the change to a newer more fuel efficient engine more than overcame the fuel capacity decrease. The newer higher thrust engines actually made the Bravo close to a 400 knot aircraft and actually increased the range. The Bravo also inherited the Primus 1000 avionics. The Encore is still the 560 tube but newer, more fuel efficient, higher thrust, engines have been installed. The Encore now has bleed-air wing anti-ice and the trailing link gear which pilots have ached for since time began. Happy landings, Mike Eppright (KAAO)
January 1, 200620 yr Bill,If short term memory serves me, Cessna announce at this years NBAA convention that the Encore would be upgraded to the Encore+ which includes the Collins Proline 21 avionics to replace the Primus system.Your right! Its hard to keep up. Happy landings, Mike Eppright (KAAO)
