OC based Product Updates - streamline process

Featured Replies

Any chance the OC product update feature can just identify the actual product/s installed and version/s of that product and only update the specific files for it?

Up until present, the OC updates ALL products and ALL versions despite the fact I only have the NGX, 777 and 747 and only the FSX version of each.

The D/L time is elongated and unnecessary given I don't have ALL products and ALL versions.

Much appreciated.

Steve,

I'm not sure what you're referring to here. The updater function that we just added only updates the product that it advises you has an available update.

If you're referring to when the OC updates itself, I don't think that's the best idea. Moreover, unless you have a particularly bad connection, it shouldn't really take that long.

Kyle,

I'm referring to the OC itself.

May I ask why you think it's not a good idea ("I don't think that's the best idea") to only update the OC according to the products the client actually has?

PS: the reason I raised this issue is two-fold:

1. the download speed is quite slow

2. I noticed that the files updating were in relation to products/modules I don't have, in addition to the fact that they were updating files for FSX SE and P3D which I don't have either.

If a client purchases an additional product and sim version, then the OC should recognize that and act accordingly, otherwise it seems redundant.

Not a criticism, just an observation in terms of streamlining the process.

Steve,

In short:  No.

The OC is an entirely encapsulated program.  One day all of your personal account management will be done directly through the application, and thus all of the pieces and parts are needed.

The ENTIRE kit is only 82MB...  That really isn't much.
