AI Question - Flying Online

Recommended Posts

I have a question that I probably know the answer to but I figured I'd check.  I only fly online, whether it is Vatsim or Pilot Edge. However, it is pretty boring landing at airports that look like ghost towns.  Is there anything out there that would allow for an environment to be online but also see AI or static planes all while not hurting frames or VAS?  I saw there was some real time application on here but wasn't sure if that worked while online.  I highly doubt there is but I figured i'd ask the experts.  Thanks!

Anytime you inject AI aircraft into the sim its going to impact your FPS and VAS. I like to fly with as much AI as I can but the impact on my FPS can be substantial.

The only addon airports I know that add static aircraft to airports are UK2000. Nice and there airports never have VAS-FPS problems.

What about that "fly with live traffic" thread?  That seems like it is separate and doesn't hurt vas and fps.

I haven't looked thru that whole thread but however AI traffic is injected into the sim it will have an impact on VAS and FPS. Quick example,  your sitting at the gate with NO AI in your sim then you fire up your favorite AI program. It doesn't matter how the AI gets introduced into your sim whether it be Ultimate Traffic, My Traffic or some "live traffic" option. When the program starts to add AI the sim displays them with aircraft models with textures. To display these models and textures it takes additional computer power thus it will impact VAS and FPS.
