Horizon 787 in MSFS2024 ?
- TOE BRAKE DELAY 2024
YES .... I use a button for the brakes and coming from FSX the delay, of MSFS24, was driving me crazy! I use a lua script, run by FSUIPC, and it has made the issue 90% better.- TOE BRAKE DELAY 2024
Hello Mike ... Are you using rudder pedal style brakes or a button assigned to the brakes?- Longtime Simmer but First Time PMDG Buyer
My legal background was creeping in, but I see your point. Your context is duly noted and fair enough.- Longtime Simmer but First Time PMDG Buyer
Hello Jonathan, Do you have examples of these "old bugs that haven't been fixed in 10 years+" ? I'm not challenging your assertions just trying to get a read on your statement. Especially since I'm new to PMDG aircraft. I've had about 15 flights so far and I haven't noticed anything that might be a bug. Now I will say I'm not going to notice something like hey the N1 values aren't correct on startup. I would notice something not working, per the manual, or some glitch in the flight model IE a small twitch of the aircraft turns in LNAV. I really haven't noticed anything that is wrong given my expectations. Even thou I haven't bought the new 737 it did give me a pause when I heard the "few cups of coffee" statement, then saw the price. But I would stop short of saying their CEO was lying. That's a strong claim. Just simply for myself, I am happy with my purchase and like and enjoy the aircraft. Others probably will also, but yes some of your critique's are noteworthy for others. Respectfully.- Longtime Simmer but First Time PMDG Buyer
I've been involved with flight sim since the early days of Sublogic ATP and Microsoft's early versions and my most recent sim of choice was FSX. It was a heavily modded setup: 2 computers, 3 monitors with Aivlasoft EFB, Active Sky Next and some other programs. My FSX was also heavily modified with my own AI traffic flight plans, my own custom approaches (done with ADE) and custom databases to go with those approaches. Enough history. Made the recent jump to MSFS24 and I just purchased my first PMDG product. In the early days of PMDG being marketed as "study level" I thought there might be to much study involved. I like some depth but also like to get in and just fly. I don't want a 3 week course in the aircraft. I choose the 777-200LR and it's one fine machine. PMDG did a good job to my eye and brain. It's a polished aircraft. I know there has been some recent drama about PMDG but fifty bucks for THIS plane was fine with myself. I will get thousand's of hours of enjoyment for that fifty dollars. Of course ANY developer is not without some shortcomings but so far I'm pleased with my purchase. It looks good, sounds good and fly's good. My opinion .. go get one.- Finally Making the Transition to MSFS 2024 - Need Advice
I just upgraded to MSFS2024 about 3 weeks ago, I was a heavy FSX user prior to moving to MSFS24. I skipped the whole P3D experiment and MSFS2020. But looking at the videos of MSFS2024 I decided to make the jump and it was worth it. As to payware aircraft: I bought the iniBuilds A350, while it was on sale, prior to even getting my MSFS24 setup and running. I have about 20 flights with it so far and would recommend the aircraft. I just purchased the Fenix Airbus bundle and with about 4 flights in, I would recommend getting this aircraft. It's a winner. TFDI 717 unfortunately is not available for MSFS24 and I would avoid the Captain Sim offerings. For freeware stuff, I tried the Horizon 787-9 and the Headwinds A330-900, not payware quality but very good aircraft and I fly them plenty. Getting into MSFS24 I suggest watching A LOT of tutorial type videos on control bindings with profiles and the camera system. It can be a little complicated and overwhelming but in time you will learn how to operate the systems. As a fellow controller (retired from "THE SHOW") I have to back Ryan on the Intel ARC video card .. MSFS2024 will push it very hard.- MSFS2024 - an initial impression after waiting 12 months
I came from FSX, I know the horror right, and I noticed the same thing. It took awhile but I have it looking great. There are just so many options to adjust and see what works. There's in game setttings, monitor settings, AMD graphic card settings etc. I finally got it looking how I wanted it through some trial and error. MY advice keep adjusting your settings but go slow and keep track of what works. I went too fast and had it looking worse. I just wanted to fly.- No AI Traffic Showing in FSX with MyTraffic Installed
AWESOME! Glad you got it working. Those AI traffic issues can be a dark hole.- Now I NEED rudder pedals?!?!?!
Thanks for the wise words.- Now I NEED rudder pedals?!?!?!
I think you are right!! With the same term being used .. AUTORUDDER .. for both sims, FSX and MSFS24, I thought I just missed a setting somewhere to achieve what my setup had in the past. That was/is the BIG issue with fltsim software, even thou the term is the same did the logic change OR is some other setting need to be set. It would seem that, with my testing and this forums help, that the logic WAS CHANGED and AUTORUDDER no longer functions the same as in the past sims, specifically FSX. And that's OK I do not have an issue with purchasing rudder pedals. The reason I didn't buy them for FSX is that I didn't need them for the way MY setup was configured. Now I understand it was EXTREMELY unrealistic compared to real world aviation protocol but I was ok with that being the case. I was a controller at the time, now retired, and air traffic controllers make HORRIBLE pilots anyway!!🙂 So I'm in the market for rudder pedals now!- Now I NEED rudder pedals?!?!?!
It appears I've hit the same wall .. I see a flight sim hardware purchase in my future.- Now I NEED rudder pedals?!?!?!
I tried this, unless I have missed some setting, AUTO RUDDER isn't working as it did in FSX. IN FSX I could turn on AUTO RUDDER step into, lets say the Majestic Q400, line up on the runway, apply power and I would have directional control simply by pushing the joystick left and right. In an external view the aileron axis, joystick left and right, would turn the nose wheel and deflect the rudder. And this was through out the takeoff roll, no matter the speed. Taxing was also easy. I don't know if they changed the logic between nose wheel steering, auto rudder or something else but it seems to have changed. I am just trying to find a solution with my current setup, no rudder pedals. It seems no matter what settings I chose or configure I cannot get it to behave the way it did in the past. I have directional control while taxing but NOT during the late stages of the takeoff roll or landing. I will purchase rudder pedals and that's ok if that is the solution to MSFS24. Coming from FSX I assumed I could turn on AUTO RUDDER, since I did not have rudder pedals, and it would work as it did in the past. Again unless I missed some setting, MSFS24 is more lets say complicated in control settings than FSX, I cannot get AUTO RUDDER to work they way I thought it did.- Now I NEED rudder pedals?!?!?!
I think with my old FSX setup I was always landing straight into the wind which maybe that's why auto rudder worked so well. But I have to move on, I will get the pedals. Thanks for your input.- Now I NEED rudder pedals?!?!?!
You convinced me! I'm getting some rudder pedals. I had no issue with my FSX setup with autorudder it was simplistic in its approach. Unrealistic yes but so simple in design. But MSFS has evolved and so will I. Thanks for the recommendation.- Now I NEED rudder pedals?!?!?!
I GOT PROBLEMS with the BRAKES TOO! 🙂 That delay and my comparison to the way they worked in FSX is a little frustrating, but I'm working thru it.- Now I NEED rudder pedals?!?!?!
I've been looking at those! In my interweb travels I've heard talk of "damper" kits for these pedals .. do you use these or are they find without?- No AI Traffic Showing in FSX with MyTraffic Installed
That was my next dart to throw .. delete the scenery entry and reinstall. Good luck .. these can be frustrating problems.- Now I NEED rudder pedals?!?!?!
Not complaining, well maybe a little, just a little humor. I upgraded to MSFS2024 from FSX no less and while I love the looks and visuals it's been a heavy learning process. I have been involved with Microsoft's flight simulator software from the beginning and this upgrade has my brain spinning. Getting everything setup from the camera, control settings, profiles and all types of SETTINGS has been an astronomical learning curve. So after a few test flights I have found out AUTO RUDDER is a completely different animal in MSFS2024 then FSX. Since the beginning I have never used rudder pedals just turned on AUTO RUDDER and used my joystick to keep me on the runway center line. Now I know this is not realistic but it sure made it easy. I like the simulation aspect but I also like to enjoy the flight sim. So do most of you use rudder pedals??- No AI Traffic Showing in FSX with MyTraffic Installed
So with just the default trafficAircraft.bgl in use no AI traffic would display correct? If this is correct then there is a conflict, sorry that is obvious, the conflict is most likely another traffic bgl file. With using WOAI and TTools in the past you may have missed one .. keep searching! It could be a corrupted trafficAircraft.bgl file but that is a long shot ... what size is your default trafficAircraft.bgl file ? What I was trying to accomplish is get your system back to default AI traffic working then go from there with installing MyTraffic.- No AI Traffic Showing in FSX with MyTraffic Installed
Evan, These AI traffic issues can be tricky. There is a conflict somewhere .. might be WOAI stuff or old FS9 traffic bgl's. First try this: rename the original default trafficAircraft back to its .bgl file name and remove ALL, including the MyTraffic created (AI traffic) .bgl's and any other AI traffic .bgl's. Are there any WOAI aircraft in SimObjects Airplanes? See if the default AI traffic will display and show up. Sheldon- No AI Traffic Showing in FSX with MyTraffic Installed
Hello Evan, I was a HEAVY FSX user up until about a week ago, on the long journey now to getting MSFS24 up and running. I had a heavily modified AI setup in FSX with a mix of my own created flights and Ultimate Traffic2. Probably not many FSX'ers left so I'll try to help. -Did you have just the default FSX AI traffic prior to installing MyTraffic? -Have you ever added your own created flights using TTools? -Have you ever used WOAI packages? -Once installed did MyTraffic EVER show AI traffic in the sim? Respectfully, Sheldon- Why place "CONTENT" on separate drive for MSFS2024
I did the same with my current system, Windows on a separate ssd. Will definitely use Addon Linker ... I have been studying up on that program for awhile.- Why place "CONTENT" on separate drive for MSFS2024
Thanks ALL for your helpful replies!- Why place "CONTENT" on separate drive for MSFS2024
Hello Mace ... There was one specific post here by a long term member, it is entirely possible I may have misunderstood or it was not in reference to my exact build but the quote was ... "If you want to keep things clean and simple... just allow the core sim to install on the C drive.. avoids a whole bunch of links that could become troublesome over time.. Content on a different drive? Yes! " - TOE BRAKE DELAY 2024
