Radar Contact Tweak question

"confirm our callsign" - FO confirms call sign correctly!

What ATC window am I supposed to see? Do you mean the FSUIPC/RC4 transparent window (that I suppress in FSUIPC normally - "Suppress multiline in FS's window")

Thanks,

Yes, I meant that transparent window titled "Radar Contact ATC"

You need to let RC4 output text in multiline, so MCE can monitor the options and not just send key combos based on what you say.

It's a no go until TTS voice can read the text aloud

"Confirm ATC options" - FO answers "Available ATC options" (that's it) and the red text:

confirm ATC options    (Available FS Virtual Memory: 987 MB)                          (Unlimited) +1.0 Gs  Fuel 19%

"show ATC" - red text:

[MCE] You have elected to use radar contact for ATC. But it's not running yet!  (Unlimited) +1.0 Gs  Fuel 19%

"hide ATC" - red text:

hide ATC          (Available FS Virtual Memory: 987 MB)                          (Unlimited) +1.0 Gs  Fuel 19%

Thanks,

PS: multiline option is not suppressed in FSUIPC as suggested.

Thanks for the informative video.

Gerald, the video is not mine!!! It was posted by Stuart in this thread:

I just brought it up as an example of how I might start communication with RC4 only!!

I have nothing to do with what's going on in that video!!  :biggrin:

Thanks.

For now, suggest you enable all features and the assumption is that

1 - MCE is installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder

2 - "Prepar3D.exe" is set to run as admin. If using a launcher app to fire P3D, must set the latter to run as admin as well.

The above are requirements when Windows UAC is enabled. And we don't recommend disabling it.

If you're sharing the P3D installation folder, be advised that manually setting wrong folder and files permissions would eventually get Windows to restrict privileges.

I mean, it could be that "Prepar3D.exe" isn't running as admin, eve though option is ticked.

I confirm the above.

Thanks,

The FO recorded voice packs cannot speak unexpected text. Make sure you temporarily assign a TTS  voice as FO.

Then try again and ask for ATC options.

Could you post your "mce.ini" [ATC] section only?

As you suggested I've used TTS Microsoft David Desktop voice for all my tests. So MCE to some reason can read my Callsign from there, but nothing else.

See if you find something else:

Thanks,

ATC settings look OK.

I see an issue with these

AudioIn=???????? (Realtek High Definiti
AudioOut=???????? (Realtek High Definiti

Don't know how the ??????? came to be. Suggest you clear the entries

AudioIn=
AudioOut=

The run the "assign sound device" tool to assign Audio In and Audio Out, and check mce.ini has the correct devices. Should have no more than 32 characters as the device name (even when it appears as incomplete)

Start->All apps->Multi Crew Experience->Tools->Assign sound device.

AudioIn is where the speech engine will be expecting your speech.

Where is that tool?

This is something to do with the drivers or Win10, as I've had the same in P3D and FSX-SE sound options.

Anyway MCE uses it Ok as seen from running Checklists and reading the Callsign.

I will comply though, just where is that tool exactly?

Thanks,

Ok, devsel.exe shows the same

AudioIn=???????? (Realtek High Definiti
AudioOut=???????? (Realtek High Definiti

so it's not an issue.

A few suggestions.

When it comes to Windows x64 (not just Windows 10), using the Windows built-in drivers is better than the Realtek specific ones.

Go to Windows Control Panel, add--remove programs and in-install "Realtek audio drivers" if listed. Then restart and let Windows assign its own digitally signed drivers.

Re-run the tool and see if those ??? are still there.

To assign a TTS voice, go to <Command> tab in MCE UI, click <Change> button next to FO voice.

In voice assignment panel, select "TTS voices" at the top and you should see any such voices installed on your system. Pick one up as the FO, then ask "confirm ATC options".

Eventually, try un-sharing the simulator folder.

It won't work until FO is able to read ATC options and MCE recognizes your ATC speech.

You may want to add this option to [ATC] section.

AtcPaceFactor=5

Without the option, you're expected to transmit swiftly, without hesitation.

Above option will give you some latitude.

Ground <hesitation_time> Speedbird 345 <hesitation_time> is ready for <hesitation_time> taxi

I assume you're running MCE latest V2.7.0.6 available here

I'm using TTS voice as can be seen in mce.ini already:

[VOICES]
Voice0 =Microsoft David Desktop,0,0,0,0
Voice1 =Trav,0,0,0,1
Voice2 =Stella,0,0,0,1
Voice3 =William,0,0,0,1
Voice4 =Microsoft Zira Desktop - English (United States),0,0,0

and yes, it's there, selected in the UI.

I have no problem with recognition here, Gerald! Give me any long/difficult phrase to check lockally and FO will pick up you'll see.

The problem is MCE can't read well from RC4 on the networked PC beyond the call sign, isn't it obvious already?

Let's try something challenging locally instead of uninstalling sound drivers, shall we? Otherwise I can send you my recorded mp3 and I'm sure it will still work on your rig if you play it to your microphone ;)

Thanks,

Dirk.

Just in case, my specs are pretty mainstream:

i7 6700k @4.6Ghz, 8Gb @3000Mhz, GTX Titan X

??? come from the cyrillic font used in the driver on English US locale, nothing to worry about

Thanks,

Dirk.

The call-sign and flight plan is picked up from "rcv3.dat" in same folder as "rcv4.exe"

Assigned Hotkeys. are picked up from "keyboard.dat"

ATC options are picked up from the sim.

With aircraft on ground, engines running, go to <Sim> tab in UI and check what the green font says.

Eventually, revert to native ATC, restart MCE and ask "Microsoft David Desktop" to read ATC options. Obviously, not the same options as RC4/PF3.

Just need to check there is no communication issues between "mce.exe" and "Prepar3D.exe"

Very interesting and very enlightening on how the program works. Good that I have some saved files with everything set up and engines running already. Will report shortly.

Thanks.

The green font says:

FS Version:    P3D v3

English Version: Yes

FSinsider ver:   2700

Aircrafts available: 66

on ground, engine(s) on

How to revert to native ATC exactly? I don't want to guess here, even though I think I know how.

Thanks.
