Installation of addons should be straightforward

The problem is if you have some sceneries that are installed the old way and others that use the xml method. It will be difficult for the user to have everything organized. Image > 300 scenery entries... It makes things more complicated.

The same is true for dll.xml and exe.xml. Why do you need two set of files at two different locations? Again there is room for errors, for double entries etc. Again, it makes things unnecessarily complicated.

It's because we are in transition. With any transition there's a point in time when both sides coexist. I expect that by V5 there will be only one officially supported way and one set of files.
