Noel I think you mean he can't attribute the increase to JUST the CPU.  Of course having a new CPU (and the architecture) that comes with it caused the increase.   I'm not sure why people think CPU generations are such a linear performance increase (not claiming you think that just that i see that viewpoint expressed here frequently) - I've never seen that myself.  More of an exponential increase is normal to me.  I expect it again when I go to Kaby or coffee this year.  I'm using an "ancient" sandy bridge 2500K

its also difficult to judge because rarely do users go from a CPU at 4 Ghz to a newer CPU at 4Ghz.

anyway we're probably just thinking the same thing - that change in architecture (over the course of a few CPU generations) is causing a lot of the increase.

Well all we have to go on is two non-identical scenarios.   You certainly don't see 60+% increases in performance running other single core benchmarks, it's more on the order of 16-25%.   If you get  25-35 frames in the NGX in congested areas and now see 80-90 frames the same scenarios sounds like performance concerns are essentially over.  So is that true, P3D nirvana has finally arrived?

Another possibility is the gpu upgrade - in v4 that's sure to make more of a difference.  My pc is packed away because I'm in the middle of  move but before I packed up recent experience with it looked very promising.

Whatever it is if it's anywhere in the ballpark described then indeed performance issues are no more.  Sounds good, but I have hard time believing it still.
