V4 - SODE won't write to DLL.xml or EXE.xml

Featured Replies

I'm trying to get SODE to register itself in the dll.xml and exe.xml files in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 so it'll show up in the Add Ons menu in the sim. However, when I hit the "Register!" button in the SODE manager it does nothing to the DLL or EXE files. There are no SODE entries, yet the manager says SODE is registered.. I'm running the manager as Admin. I've excluded every relevant folder from virus scanning. Has anyone seen this before that can help?

Thanks.

Alex, I just had a look at mine, and mine is missing too. It was there, but not now. What is even more weird, is I found an entry for AS Flight recorder for the AS Airbus, and have never installed it. Need to do some digging into this.

The last airport I installed was an Aerosoft airport, and it may have done something, not sure.

Edit; Ok, I mentioned above about no entries in dll.xml and exe.xml, but it shows up in my sim menu, but Sode  is installed using the XML method of install, so no entries are made to the xml files in ProgramData and %APPDATA% i'm guessing.

Check for an entry in add-ons.cfg  in C:/ProgramData/LM/P3Dv4

If Sode is showing up in the simulator, than it has probably installed correctly. The new way of adding products to P3D means that we do not have to mess around with the old dll.xml, and exe.xml files. Any add-on that does is not entirely compatible with P3Dv4. They may work, but they will require re-installation after a P3D update.

Add-ons added to the P3Dv4 Add-on menu are now creating their own xml files in "C:/Users/your name here/My Documents/Prepar3D v4 Add-ons"

Ah, ok. Well, it's not showing in the add on menu in the sim so something is wrong.

Starting with the first P3D v4 compatible SODE release, it no longer adds a exe.xml or dll.xml entry!

Instead is using the new Add-on.xml feature.

I suggest you uninstall SODE from via the windows add/remove program menu, and then download the latest installer! Make sure to run the installer as admin.

Did you check add-on.cfg like I suggested. As per the post above, just re install.

Figured it out... P3D wasn't running in Admin mode. For some reason it keeps un-checking the box in the compatibility tab. Thanks for the help, all.

This is not correct.  dll.xml and exe.xml are still used by addons in v4 and are still entirely compatible.  The only thing that has been changed is how a developer tells the sim their addon is there for use.
