Black Marble Vector + Daytime shots + ftx global anyone?

Featured Replies

I recently got BM base plus vector.. given that there are issues (for some temporarily) on seeing posts in certain subforums on the other site, i figured i'd share a few screenshots of the issue i'm having.. in all fairness.. the dev is trying to help me through this, but i'm very curious why noone else has noticed this.

Basically, if you have a  p3d install WITHOUT ftx involved, particularly ftx global.. everything looks good.  As in this shot below of pittsburgh.  (here is a saved flight file you could use to try to replicate my issue if you are willing, just run that as is, full screen mode zoomed out)..

As you can see above there is tons of road data and it matches the real world pretty closely..

If you have ftx global installed and then run through the base + vector, you end up with something that looks like this:

Note the bright white roads above.. this isnt BM's fault, seems to be some mix of FTX and their roads forcing the bright white..

If you then add in the BM orbx compat. patch, daytime roads get reduced a tad more to this:

For comparison, here is how UTX looks like without BM involved (ignore the yellow that was a different issue i was pointing out before)

I was hoping to see some other folks shots in the daytime just to validate what i'm seeing.. its either, live with the white brighter roads and move on, or bail completely.. i have hope that the dev and I will figure out a fix.. but i'm still puzzled noone else has mentioned this.

Again my baseline is just p3dv4 + ftx global (no vector), nothing else and BM base plus vector.. utx above was just to compare road coverage

Thanks in advance

I also see this different coloured roads, but even more worrying, I get a huge fps drop with BM Vector, also at daytime.

If I correctly understood BM Vector, it shall not display roads at daytime, they just get blended it during dusk and are fully present at night ??

I also have FTX Global Base, but that consists only of textures and landclass, so should not play any role ?!

I must admit, I don`t understand anything anymore.

You get the white roads i have in the first post?  Would you mind opening my scenario file there and taking a screen shot to compare.. very curious..

It seemed crazy that i was the only one seeing that difference... it turned out to be a single line terrain.cfg fix to revert away from white roads (cant really put that out here or it will break peoples cfgs most likely).. but i'd like to see yours vs mine for sanity sake :)

And the dev seems to suggest that.. that BM vector roads shouldnt show in the day.. if that were true, all we should see is whatever was there before (in my case at this point only baked in ftx global roads), but i see many extra roads (more desirable really if no fps hit)

Looks like your not experiencing the same thing.. mind sharing the coordinates on those shots.. i'd like to replicate (i guess via slew button would show the coordinates).. thanks again for those shots.

here's the test you requested. FTX Global Base and BM Base/Vector, no other Vector Addons.

Thanks for sharing that for confirmation :)

We should compare notes to see what our systems have in common.. i'm guessing its just the FTX Global, but who knows i guess.

What you get in the screenshot of your flight file is just FTX Global Base (so no FTX Global Vector !!) and BM Base/Vector.

So what you see should be either a mixture of default (grey roads) and BM Vector (white roads), hence the colour mixture. Or just BM Vector in different colours.

I must admit, in my attempts to find the reason for the huge fps drop with BM Vector installed (even at daytime), I have completely lost the overview what does what.

I might be able to help on the frame rate drop if i can get my poor system back to stable itself.. trial and error is taking forever, but i'm narrowing it down.

Do you get alot of autogen pop (not BM related) in your sim.. close to the airplane, not further away, as well as tiles trickling in to load.. not many out there show this issue in their youtube videos (and in my other thread here, you'll see if really ran the system through the ringer to try to isolate so far).
