Flight1 Commander 112 Help

Featured Replies

Hi guys! Im loving this new toy, but for those of you that know me, I always seem to mess around with stuff to learn about what it is. And its the same case with the lil' dandy tool called "FSStartupConfig." Its a little something F1 tossed into the 112's directory to choose eathier Meigs or SeaTac as the default flight. Figuring I wouldnt do any damage, i just selected SEA and since then, every time I start FS, it goes directly to the default flight at SEA in the C172. Its really aggrivating having to wait for a flight to load that you never even picked. I start FS and it goes directly to this flight, bypassing the Main Menu. How can I change this back? Thanks guys! :-wave

Hi Chase,In your FS9.cfg make sure the "Startup" section looks like this:(STARTUP)<---- should be square bracketsDEMO=0LOADSIM=1LOADWINDOW=1SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=1STARTUP_DEMO=Hope this helps,Greg

If you do as Greg suggests, it will return you to where you were.If it were up to me, I would require a mandatory startup at either Meigs or Seattle in the stock 172.FSStartupConfig.exe allows this to happen and allows the startup to be default. Why? Because when running any 3rd party aircraft, you really should start this way then move to the aircraft of choice, then location. This ensures a sanitary startup situation rather than possible saved states that may interfere with custom applications like many of us do.I guarantee half of our support issues would be resolved if people simply started with default startup situations instead of their own.Best,Jim Rhoads

Greg, thanks for that, going to try it now! BTW, I thought you were on a San Diego 4000+? Upgrade the rig again, recently? Jim, I understand your point and it makes sense. Between my packed 80GB HDD, running AS6 and its clouds, and FT SEA and all the AI, it just takes a while. Ive never had a problem. I guess we can say im on the "safe list." :-hahTake care jim. :)Thanks guys for your prompt responses! :-wave

If it were up to me, I would require a mandatory startup at either Meigs or Seattle in the stock 172.I agree with Jim's point here. When I recently reinstalled the sim on a new system I did just this for a few days until I was certain all was well (it wasn't at first... had a RAM timing issue). But now that the system is stable I, like many others, have created a cold and dark flight at my favorite airport using the default 172.I can see, Jim, where alot of your support issues come from user error (irony is that far too often errors are created by the humans trying to resolve problems). And troubleshooting those problems would be much easier for all involved if the user immediately started working the problem using the default Seattle/172 flight.Yep, Chase, recently got thrown too good a deal on the FX-57. A guy I built a rig for a few months ago (using this CPU) wanted to try an X2 4800 Toledo and made me an offer on the FX-57 that I couldn't pass up. It's a sweet CPU!Greg

Wow Greg, you have good luck my friend. The 4000 you had is a beast, but anything thats the FX series is a total monster.Out of curiosity, whats your performance like?

No complaints here!! :-) I lock the frames at 27 and everything is silky smooth. Occassionally I get a hiccup when the weather updates, but that's about it. Keep in mind I try not to fly into the "busy" airports, and I only fly GA. Also set my AI at 59% (because the other 41% are dumb as fence posts). I fly only addon aircraft from the VC and a number of freeware and payware sceneries.Greg

Same here. I fly only addon aircraft and I use AS6, GE, and the highly detailed sceneries (when/where avalible).Do you max out your sliders? I try to lock at 50, but i havent done it in a while. I think im going to try to lock lower and bump up my sliders. Any advice? Thanks greg! :-wave

The guy switched from an FX57 to a 4800??? Man I'd be just the opposite, would love to switch my 4800 for the FX57, LOLYep, I'm with you on that one. When he told me what he wanted to do I tried talking him out of the idea... until he offered me the FX-57 at a killer price. :-) Chase, I don't max everything. Not really necessary.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144399.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144400.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144401.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144402.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144403.jpgI use AS (w/ the included Active Environment using 256 bit DXT clouds) and registered version of FSUIPC to control my sight distance. Having the system drawing stuff beyond visual range wastes alot of resources.Cheers,Greg

Greg, would you mind taking some pics and posting them in the Screen Shot Forum? Id like to compare what your sim looks like with those settings vs mine. Im thinking my fs9 cfg is going to have some surgery tonight. :)

Thanks Greg, that helped! How did you limit the visibility as shown in picture 2, 5, 6, amd 7? Looks very realistic with the visibility limitation. :)

Thru the settings in FSUIPC. The AS folks don't want us doing much in FSUIPC, but I prefer to limit the vis there (when the weather isn't giving limited vis itself via ugly METARS).Greg
