March 10, 200620 yr I'm having a problem with the texture rendering within GE which is best illustrated by the following screenshots:http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/ion...%20EIDL/GE1.jpghttp://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/ion...L/CopyofGE2.jpghttp://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/ion...L/CopyofGE3.jpgTextures render slowly, jerky and within a very short sight distance. There is also a very unpleasant "grid" look to the textures.I took the advice of a previous post and changed my FS9 cfg to read as follows:TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=9.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=1Alas this has made very little difference. You will notice from the screenshots that the problem is somewhat disguised when flying over greener, more dense terrain but it is still visible. Can you help me with this problem? My system specs are Windows XP Pro/SP2/FS9/AMD Athlon 64- 3500+/1 GB Ram/Radeon X800 Pro.-I use FS AutoStart-I have FSScene installed-All sliders maxed-FS Global and European Terrain MeshesI have the latest updates installed.I originally posted this in the very long general GE thread but it must have got lost as there were no responses. Warmest regards to all forum members.Kevin
March 10, 200620 yr You ned to show coordinates, so others (and the developer) can see what you're seeing, to determine, if the problem is widespread or confined to your installation. Only then can someone help you! Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
March 10, 200620 yr The screenshots are of Fuerteventura and Ireland(Co Dublin) but I've sampled half a dozen other areas all of which show the same effect.kevin
March 10, 200620 yr Your running Ground Environment and FSSCENE? That is probably the culprit..I had to completely uninstall FSSCENE before running GE.
March 10, 200620 yr I too have seen this exact same tileing effect in the middle foreground and I do not have FSScene textures installed at all, so do not believe that is the conflict.I emailed the GE Support and received following from them, although I am not sure the suggestion is the answer:QuoteWhat you are seeing is the effect of mips drawing in the distance. I suggest that you defrag your harddrive to speed up the disk access time.Anthony VosDeveloper of Ground Environment 2006UnquoteI had only recently, last weekend, defragged my hard disk (took 5 hours!), so don't intend doing that too often.Even staying in one place (slew mode) and refreshing the scenery / texture loading this does not alter the distinct tileing effect which always stops at the same points. I truly believe this can only be down to graphic card settings / capabilities, although I do not know what these may be or how to rectify.Hope it helps to know you are not alone !I still think the GE textures are great, and this is simply a little annoying.Regards,Stuart

Also, the checkerboard problem was identified over at the GE forum as being caused by a replacment detail1.bmp, which overwrote the original. As GE doesn't include this file it must have been something else.Allcott
March 10, 200620 yr Hi Stuart,I've solved my problem.Read this link from the GE support forum.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=15994&PN=1In paticular the posts by fox450 and RNGR.Good Luck!kevin
March 10, 200620 yr Hi Kevin - good you got it sorted, also just interested in what aircraft is that in the picture?
March 10, 200620 yr Hi Stuart - you will benefit from the disk defrag AFTER you install GE, i am sorry i did not make that clear in my last email, as I thought the problem was solved in your reply and I would like to give you my apologies for that .About the mips fading in the distance ; Set your mipmap level at 4 or even 5 in the settings menuAlso , look at this thread about the FS9.CFG settings and experiment what is best for you.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=15994&PN=1warm regards,
March 10, 200620 yr Thanks, guess I shall try defrag, although the actual texture loading appears fine at present, and I'll also replace my Detail1.bmp with the original FS9 one, as I know that I have one of the many updates that come out from time to time.I already run my mipmap setting at 4.Thanks again for everyones suggestions,
