Not Hearing sounds through headset (random)

Hi there, I've been using FS2CREW voice for PMDG 777 for a long time and never ran into problem. Just started encountering problem on P3D V4 and it happen at random and sometimes while in flight. I just basically stop receiving any sounds from the FO or even the PA button when clicked through the headset. But microphone is working though because i tried running checklists and it detects my speech and follow through but i just can't hear any read back. I have the p3d atc sounds come through my headset also and it works fine. Would appreciate any help please.

Voice and HS is on. Tried clicked voice off and on again also but doesn't work.

First connected the USB headset through a HUB so i thought might be a problem but even connected directly didn't help.

Try updating your audio drivers.

If it happened out of the blue as you say it did, something must have changed on your system somewhere.

What happens when you press the Audio Test button?

Audio Drivers are already latest. I don't think anything has changed because headset is working fine with other programs and FS2CEW is still detecting my voice input. FO still following commands. Just not hearing any voice from FS2CREW FO or PA Annoucements.

Clicking Audio Test button no sounds heard at all. Tried changing CFG in flight also to main speakers and not headset still same issue. No sounds in Audio Test,

Check the "sleep" settings for your USB ports in Windows.

Your port could be going "sleep".

I doubt it because the headset is still working and it's detecting my input anyway and I can hearthe ATC through headset still all the time.

Something must have changed on your system.  

Try re-installing FS2Crew and P3D.  Sometimes re-installs clear up weird gremlins.

Reinstalling P3D would be a disaster! Would i have to reinstall all the add ons again? I will reinstall fs2crew though. But I doubt the system changes because as i said the headset is working fine. I've seen quite a few people reporting this problem on the forums so could it be fs2crew also?

Will report back after a few flights after reinstall of fs2crew.

You said it "just started happening", so something changed somewhere.  The FS2Crew code doesn't morph by itself :-)

Try experimenting a bit.

I'm sorry what I should say really is it started happening since I had to buy again all fs2crew for the p3dv4 version. No problems on previous versions whatsoever. But will try experiment and report back.

Hi. Just to follow up still same problem. This time on 747. I uninstalled fs2crew 737 747 777 and tried reinstall again. First 747 flight all good. Second flight same problem. I clicked play brief and i could hear sound coming through headset playing brief. After that doesn't work anymore. I had green speech bar on and tried some commands. It detects like for example set heading to XXX and the FO does the job but no voice heard back from FO at all.

Is your USB headset plugged into a port in the front of your computer or a back port?

Try a port on the back of your computer.  

The sound is external to Flight Sim.  So P3D is not a factor.

You have a hardware issue somewhere on your system.

Sorry for late reply as I am travelling.

1. My headset was normally plugged into the front port but since problem I have tried changed a few ports and now it's plugged into the back but still same problem.

2. I am trying to think how is it related to hardware? It may make sense but let me say what I have said before and possibly we can try think what's going on. As explained above The output is fine as i had the green speech bar on and it's detecting my voice commands and following my orders but I am just not hearing any voice back from the FO or FS2CREW. So this means the headset is working? And i can still hear the ATC sound from P3D through my headset which also rules out the problem with P3D or headset? So this means headset is working fine both inout and output so I am trying to think maybe it's not P3D or external but FS2CREW? The only reason i can think is maybe it's FS2CREW issue related to p3d V4? never had problem in p3dV3 and same computer and set up.

3. I have seen multiple posts too where people are reporting the same problem so could this mean it's FS2CREW issue?

Hi Swadeep,

It's not in the code otherwise everyone would have it and we have 1000s of P3D V4s users.

If people have sound problems, 9 times out of 10 it's an audio driver problem or their usb port is going to sleep.

Ok when I am back I will try maybe uninstall and reinstall the audio driver. I will see what to do and report back.

Hi,

So i uninstalled all the sound drivers and reinstalled them.

1st Flight with 747 all good.

2nd flight with 777 was fine until descending. I accidentally reduced the volume from headset by mistake down to 20 the brought it back up to 100 ( not sure anything to do with this) and bam problem again. Can't hear first officer at all. He's still listening to my instructions and performing tasks but no voice acknowledgement back from him at all. Even the PA no sound. I am still getting ATC sound from P3D though through my headset. Weird. What should i do now do you think? I wanna say I will try change headset but doubt it's the problem since it's working fine.
