SDK Expansion for 4.1

You haven't followed my original post? here are the steps with the new SDK : https://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv4/sdk/modeling/3ds_max/modeling/new_aircraft_procedures.html#WindshieldEffects

Now software Engineers from LM told me directly on their oficial forums that we can create our own rain scripts with more advance effects, etc. and attach them with the method above.

Do you see the potential now?

What you pointed to in the SDK is how to add dynamic textures to the windshield. This is totally separate from the ability to model raindrops as particles where they have geometry and follow physics. This certainly can be done directly in 3DS Max but I still see no evidence of it being included in the SDK. I'm not complaining, I'm just pointing out that TFDi may have used particle physics also. We shall see.

There is also a section to attach the script that handles the rain effects, it is on the left hand side.

From LM:

Hello,

Our rain effect is made using SDK scripting, so you can make your own. The textures can also be replaced to create different effects.

More advanced effects can be created, but you would need to make custom textures and material scripts to do things like windshield wiper interactions.

The potential is there, as I said it is up to Aircraft developers to take it.

The scripts referred to in the SDK are for looping between Pre rendered textures. TFDi's system is far more advanced and as I recall, particle based. Completely unrelated to the new scripting system.
