UT Europe CDs

Featured Replies

Looking at the size of the files there is no way I am going to be able to download this.Is the CD available and if not does anyone know when?ThanksPeter

CD version (or DVD more likely given the size of the dataset) isn't yet available.I don't know when it will market, keep an eye on the website and official support forum at http://www.simforums.com

Would it be possible for someone like myself to just put the file from the download link onto a DVD-R for Peter so it could be sent onto him so he could then copy the files, exactly the same as the ones you download off the website so he could then use them to purchase it online? I am talking about burning a DVD R basically with UT_Europe.exe and the UT_Europe.000 files.Would someone be able to answer that for me, specifically from Flight1 if possible and if it is ok I would like to send them onto Peter if that is possible just so that he's not missing out on any fun.Craig

The installer includes a re-startable download utility to enable you to download a piece at a time, whenever you want. You can then back up the installation file it creates to CD/DVD (although given the size of the file you will need to use spanning to get it onto CD's!)Allcott

that would be technically feasible. Not sure about the legallities though, but I guess it would be fine as long as you didn't charge him for it (but ask someone higher up for confirmation, I just try to help out with tech support).

No I wouldnt charge Peter for it.I have just admired his posts and stories he's posted over the years is all so woudlnt mind posting it but if not me maybe someone close to Peter would for him.It just didnt seem fair that he had to wait ages for it to come out on DVD format as he could compare it to some of his real world flights he does which I always like to see pictures and read about.

I would feel awful with you going to all the trouble. Thanks for the suggestionBest wishesPeter

This really does work very well and I would thoroughly recommend using their downloader.Unfortunately, having managed to download it, a few tests have now confirmed that under no circumstances is my PC going to let me install a file that size without bluescreening. This problem is really starting to &%@$

Hi Peter,There shouldn't be any problem sending you the CDs/DVD of the downloaded Wrapper file, as this would only replace the act of you downloading it yourself. The file is about 1.4Gb, so would have to be supplied on one DVD or 2-3 "spanned" CDs. Do you have a DVD reader ?I'd happily send it to you myself, but, as a late-Beta tester, I only got the un-Wrappered installation file ! Hopefully a kind UK simmer could do this for you, as the postage/media costs should be minimal.Let me know if I can help further !Alastair

Yes it takes about 8 hours to download with a 512k connection - quite feasible with the downloader. Just start the download before you go to bed and by morning you will have it. With a much slower connection just repeat the process over several nights. Even with dialup you should have the thing fully downloaded within a week.Bruceb
