March 20, 200620 yr I discovered that the "lite" PMDG 737, when "saving a flight", does not retain any values and settings other than the airport and runway.Since I have no intention of reprogramming the CDU and resetting all the values in the EFIS and CMD everytime I start a flight, I wonder if saving a flight when flying the 800/900 series does retain those values and settings, so I can select that flight and begin from where I left off. There is another B-737 available (from Wilco Publishing) called Pilot in Command, does anybody know if that program has the "save this flight" feature properly inplemented.Incidentally ";" and "select a flight" works just fine for the default airplanes in the FS9 fleet.Comments and/or suggestions will be appreciated.H.v.d.B.
March 20, 200620 yr If I understand your question correctly, the "save this flight" you're asking about is a MSFS option, so you can only save parameters MSFS saves--no more, no less. It isn't that the feature isn't "properly implemented" so much as the features that are part of the PMDG product--CDU, EFIS and CMD, are specific to the product, and not to MSFS.-JohnEdit: I should add, however, that I don't know if PMDG includes a tool that would let you load up their product specific parameters prior to a flight. Perhaps they do, but someone with the product will have to answer.
March 20, 200620 yr The PMDG 737 does NOT allow you to save a flight and restart. This is common to the complex end of the add-on market. One exception is the Level-D 767, which is a top-notch product.Don't have the PMDG 747, so can't comment whether you can save flights in that. Would rather assume you'd need to, given how far that can fly!
March 20, 200620 yr Hi John,Thank you for your prompt response. The reason I was sure that all those values would be stored when "saving this flight" is that in Captain Mike Ray's text "Flying the Boeing 700 series" (page 86), which specifically targets the PMDG B737, he emphatically makes the point that in FS9 ";" saves all the data so you don't have to re-enter that, when you "select that flight".Apparently that is not the case.Somebody on this forum recently made the point that newer software contains an option that allows including that type of data. I am hoping that somebody can give me specifics on that(those) product(s).H.v.d.B.
March 20, 200620 yr Yes, the Feelthere 737PIC (published by Wilco) allows you to save your flights in all stages. I have numerous flights saved on the runway, at cruise and on approach with all settings saved including FMC. I don't know how others find the time to enjoy this hobby without this feature. Maybe those that are retired or unemployed. Curt Branch

March 21, 200620 yr Commercial Member The 747 products do have a panel state save feature. Remember that the 737NG was an FS2002 product patched to FS2004 and there were virtually no products on the market aside from 767PIC that had the capability at the time. A great deal of time was spent implementing it on the 747 and all future PMDG aircraft will have the capability.
