Nice screenshot, I used to live and work near Reno, in Gardnerville NV.  I commuted up and down Kingsbury grade, a 4000 foot climb, to my office in Lake Tahoe.  On my first snowstorm I was driving west on highway 50, just near my office and tapped the brakes.  I spun around immediately, everything moved in slow motion as I first went into the opposing lanes, then almost off the road.  But I got the car under control.  One of my employees saw the whole thing and we laughed together about it.  The very next day I got studded snow tires and never had a problem with the snow and ice after that, even when it was a foot deep.

On a trip into Napa, a gas station attendant was very alarmed and he warned me I had a bunch of metal embedded in my tires.  When I explained they were studded snow tires, he looked very confused, he'd never seen them before!  They were allowed until May 1st, then I had my old tires put back on.  I gave them away, just did not want to live with the snow anymore, just clearing it off the car was a headache in the cold.

Thanks for the kind words & thank you for the real life story, John.

Highway 50 might be represented in my sim, but it's default FSX:SE with FScene X add-on textures.

Yes, you should have highway 50 if you take off from Tahoe airport, it's immediately to the north and runs west to east.  Since I have the photoreal scenery it is pretty well represented.  Maybe you can share some screenshots from there so I can see how it looks with FScene.

No, it runs east to west.  LOL (I live on the East Coast)

Nice shot Mark, except for that conservative repaint.  Big grin indeed
