No Thunder or Lightning effects in P3Dv4.1

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Wondering if anyone can offer advice to my problem.

I run P3Dv4.1, I use SimStarterNG, ENVTEX, ASP4 and ASCA.

Everything in P3d pretty much Maxed out.

I have contacted both TOGA (ENVTEX) and HIFI (ASP4), and am waiting on some advice, thus far have tried some of the avenues to explore as informed, but No Luck.

I have tried reinstall of ASP4, direct start of P3D outside of Sim Starter, have restored ENVTEX, without any success.

I just don't have any Lightning or Thunder in my Simulation?

I run WIN 10, i7-7700K, 32Gig Ram, GTX 1080TI

Sounds like your effects files have been corrupted. Try a repair install of client and/or content. Out of curiosity, when you start AS4 do you hear a thunder sound?

Yes Hear sound when starting AS4, only just upgraded the 4.1, Client and Content but will do it again.

Thanks

Have you tried loading the in sim weather thunderstorm theme without running environment add-ons to narrow down the culprit? If still no lightening and thunder then what Vic said would be the case.

There is a major effects developer which just (last week) released thunderstorm lightings with dynamic lightning for free.

Not sure if I can post any links here, so use google or go to one of the many news sides.

You can give it a shoot when everything else does not work.

Bill,

yes tried loading the in sim thunderstorm with no result, so as Vic said it might be a reinstall of Client and Contents,

and thanks Labbi85, tried that free release, no luck so reverted back to original files.

Reinstalled Client, removed Cfg and Shaders, started Sim nit through Sim StarterNG.

Set thunderstorm, Positive I saw Lightning.

Reset P3D.Cfg back to my customised, restarted through Sim Starter with all the fruit, Nothing again?

How is your effects level set? complexity and distance. Try both at medium. With both low, lighting effects on building is not visible for example.

Okay have reset new P3d.cfg, cleared shaders, HEAPS of lightning, no Thunder?????

Start P3D back through Sim Starter again, No Thunder, No Lightning. PTA, ENVTEX, AS4, ASCA running.

Which one is causing the issue.

I have tried the process of elimination and I'm at a complete loss?

This is baffling?????

Changed Cloud resolution, altered sounds, ie environment.

Searched for thunderstorms in ASP4, I now have both Lightning and Thunder, albeit the sounds are very low.

Thanks

Check your Environment sound slider in P3D. Set it higher.

Gerald Thanks,

I became a bit of a storm chaser, using ASP4 to search for storms.

Found storms in Brazil, discovered Lightning, but could barely hear thunder or lightning.

Altered sounds, increasing Environment, and lowering the rest, I also put another sound card in so as to improve the sounds.

Cheers Thanks
