November 21, 20178 yr HI, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\GTN Trainer\GTN\sys\sim" is the normal path for trainers before v6.41 "C:\ProgramData\Garmin\GTN Trainer Data\GTN" is the path for the trainer data files (resources, sounds etc...) Since your folder is empty, and given the log file, it is not installed. Have you made any other progress about this error message in the meantime? Like indicated in the thread: A 'setup failed' error with the code 0x080070643 means there's some Windows updates that need to be installed on your computer. Here's what to do: Click to check for available Windows updates. Select all 'Important' updates. Select all 'Optional' updates which refer to .NET Framework. Install the selected updates. If prompted, restart your computer. You should now be able to install AccountRight. If the error persists, download and install Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 from the Microsoft support site. Installation instructions are also provided. Can you please validate you have the 'optional' updates (or required updates) if any installed?
November 21, 20178 yr Author Jean-Luc, I appreciate the help. I will try tomorrow evening and report back. dvlcreations
November 21, 20178 yr Hi, further searching this topic, I came across this KB for Windows 2003: When you try to install a large Microsoft Windows Installer (.msi) package or a large Microsoft Windows Installer patch (.msp) package on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, you receive the following error message: Error 1718. File FileName was rejected by digital signature policy. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/973825/error-message-when-you-try-to-install-a-large-windows-installer-packag The cause listed reads: This problem occurs if the Windows Installer process has insufficient contiguous virtual memory to verify that the .msi package or the .msp package is correctly signed [...] Windows Installer uses software restriction policies to verify the signatures of signed .msi package files [...] Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 require that the whole .msi package file [...] to be loaded into one contiguous piece of memory in the address space of the Windows Installer process. Since you are running Win10, it should be applying, but it possible you are experiencing a similar issue. The KB article has a workaround which basically looks like it will allow you disabling the 'check'. You might want to review the article prior applying the workaround.
November 24, 20178 yr Author Jean-Luc, apologies for the delay...I did check for current updates in Windows 10. All there. Also checked for SQL add-ons, all there. I really am confused on what is stopping the installer. I don't think it is a native windows problem as I have purchased and installed the FSX version of F1 GTN 750. I realize they are different but still? I appreciate all your help and I will certainly reply when/if a solution is found. Thank you again for all you have tried with me. dvlcreations
November 24, 20178 yr Hi, well the problem you are reporting so far, is not a problem installing our software, but a problem installing the Garmin Trainer. Since you've managed to installed a Garmin trainer in the past (along with another GTN software), there is no reason you couldn't install, if not another Garmin trainer, at least the same Garmin trainer you've succeeded installing in the past isn't it? So what was the Garmin trainer version you've successfully installed in the past? (not the GTN FltSim software, the Garmin GTN Trainer software version)?

I am taking my PC into the shop for a deep cleaning and have them see if anything is blocking my install. Still not been able to install the Garmin Database. If nothing is found, can i just install from a disk i order from Garmin? dvlcreations

December 5, 20178 yr Author Not at this time as I am being optimistic the shop will find a problem and all will be resolved. If not, contacting Garmin is my plan B...thanks for everything. dvlcreations
December 7, 20178 yr Author Great news....system is back from the shop and Matt did a wonderful job. The problems was with the latest "forced" Windows update (Creators) and it decided to install another version of Windows Dotnet. That blocked any install. So, good news, no, great news is that the GTN's are working and database is running like a well-oiled machine! Many thanks to you for all your help and patience. Truly great customer support! Now on to panel integration! dvlcreations
December 7, 20178 yr I'm glad you got it sorted out, and for sharing the info with others who might face a similar installation issue in the future! so waht was done about .NET in the end? Did you install an anterior version side by side the one forced with the creator's update? I this case, which version is it?
December 9, 20178 yr I had a similar problem installing the Garmin GTN trainer where it failed after half an hour downloading stuff with a not so meaningful error message. The problem was a combined ad-blocking/firewall solution I have running in my network. So, I can recommend only to disable the firewall if one has problems. @dvlourieSince I have certain Dotnet problems on my computer as well I'd be interested in the solution too. Reinstallation tells me version already installed and dotnet repair tools from MS did not help. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
December 10, 20178 yr Author My apologies for the delay.....a little thing called work has delayed my response We installed all the way up to 4.7.1 Microsoft .Net Framework. Hope this can help others. dvlcreations
December 10, 20178 yr Thank you. 4.7.1 is probably what I'm missing. Have to try that. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
December 12, 20178 yr Author Alex, I touched base with my IT specialist and I quote, "When we went to the newest version of Win10 Fall Edition, it had 4.7.1 baked into it which appears to be the newest version out there right now. " Let me know and btw, love your program! Been using it for a few months and I don't ever go near the built in map for XP. Job well done sir! dvlcreations
