April 6, 200620 yr I am in the process of trying to recover most of my FS9 material after a computer crash. Everything critical seems to be in order and I am now trying to get all of my utilities back where they should be.I have multiple backups going back over the years. My latest are on DVD's. Earlier are on CD's. I have discovered on some (happen to be on the DVD's) that I get the following error message when I try to copy them to my harddrive. "Error Copying File or Folder - Cannot copy xxxx: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." The "xxxx" is the name of whatever file or folder I am trying to copy (i.e. AirEd folder, .Any tech. have any idea what has happened here and if there is a solution to recovery of these items, or are the files corrupt beyond recovery?Thank you:RTH
April 6, 200620 yr Hi,The only thing I can think of, is that you try to copy the files on another computer - the CD/DVD drive there might be able to read the files, your own computer refuses to read.BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
April 6, 200620 yr Hi RTH.It sounds like it may be an incompatibility issue, try to read it in another DVD drive. Another thing that may help is to clean your media. Use a lint free cloth and if you have some lens cleaning solution, or just condensation from your breath, clean the surface in radial strokes, from the center outward. If that does not work, try to turn off DMA on your drive.
