Control/Joystick Mapping Options : multiple aircraft

Recommended Posts

I’m using Saitek’s X-52 system; I’ve dusted it off after years of non-use.

I’d like to be able to use several profiles: one for small g/a aircraft, one for PMDG, and one for the Milviz F-4.

The X-52 stick has a profile selector which I think works only if you use their software to set up a profile. There’s the built in configuration that Prepar3D uses and Milviz has a configuration tool as well. Oh... and FSUIPC which I don’t have yet.

So what’s the best method to achieve what I want?

Hi

I use the Import / Export option in the built-in configuration for the throttle configuration, because PMDG don't do well with FSUIPC

I would have thought there’d be more discussion? There must be other opinions, techniques?

Hi...

I don't use PMDG aircraft (since their B1900) - so I can't speak intelligently on configuring those...

That said - the functions your describe are exactly why I use FSUIPC... You can create custom profiles - you can even call scripts for proprietary controls for various aircraft using LVARS that don't have a controls mapped (such as custom autopilot buttons) - and - I get better joystick response from it... I use a CH Products HOTAS and since Win10 their control manager software gave me issues... FSUIPC is well worth the cost of admission in my book...

There aren't many options to configure your joysticks - A2A has some proprietary software for use with their aircraft mapping specific controls...

Scott

FSUIPC gets my vote...allows tailoring button, switch, and axis behavior globally or per-aircraft, and a heaping whole lot more.  Works just fine with all my PMDG airplanes in FSX and P3D v2/3/4.
