April 16, 200620 yr Hi,Well, i finally did it, wiped fs9 of my dedicated partition, cleaned the registry, defragged etc. Now i installed fs9. But now what. I searched this forum and other addon forums, but could not really find answers. My question is what do i do now, after the installation of fs9?Do i first install the patch for fs9?Or do i have to install certain addons before i run the fs9 patch?I think i know that i better install Active Camera on the unpatched installation of fs9, then patch fs9 and then patch Active Camera. But what about the Boeings of PMDG, FsNavigator, FsGlobal, Ultimate Terrain, Birds eye view etc. So first patch fs9? Or first install addons, then patch fs9 and then patch the addons???Thanks for any answers.Greetings Eric from Eham MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus | Intel Core i9-10900K @ 5.3GHz | 64GB Corsair Vengeance | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 | 500 GB M.2 NVMe for win | 2TB M.2 NVMe for FS2024 | TrackIr v5 | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Eric from EHAM, a flying Dutchman.
April 16, 200620 yr I've always installed the patch first...not sure why this would not make the most sense, as the patch came out fairly early......I did (do regularly) back most everything up to an external drive though, made re-installing some folders much easier....Have fun with your clean system ;)
April 16, 200620 yr Yes patch first. Straight after you patch it, copy the whole FS9 folder as a backup, that way you won't have to reinstall totally again, if you ever have to. It's also a good source of files if you need one. Then I'd start with Activesky, AC, PMDG, all your payware airacraft. For the future, if you have to ever do it again...Aircraft - I'd back up all of them. Planes like PMDG and LDS will need reinstalling but all the liveries and other tweaks can be copied back.Scenery and mesh - Well you shouldn't have to even touch that, providing you back all the scenery folders away somewhere safe + the .cfg file. That all just needs to be moved back. Complex stuff like UT should be reinstalled from the installers but everything else can be moved.Same for AI traffic - all the planes + traffic bgl's can be moved away and brought straight back. Gauges, Effects, Modules - back up whole folders. Simply copy back after. April 16, 200620 yr Author Oke, thanks for the answers and good tips. That was the go-ahead sign i needed.Greetings Eric from EHAM MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus | Intel Core i9-10900K @ 5.3GHz | 64GB Corsair Vengeance | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 | 500 GB M.2 NVMe for win | 2TB M.2 NVMe for FS2024 | TrackIr v5 | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Eric from EHAM, a flying Dutchman.
April 27, 200620 yr I just went through the same thing, FS is a hundred times smoother that before (I had way to many addon sceneries), still have a few glitches with the yoke and quadrant but will keep working on it......the sequence they have is prettty much what I did but the copy idea of FS plus 9.1 sounds good but I did not do......good luck!! April 27, 200620 yr How many sceneries did you have, I have nearly 400 entries in my scenery.cfg and have not noticed any real performance problems? I install most of them on a second hard drive so maybe that makes a difference.
April 28, 200620 yr I never counted but sure did not have 400!! Think I screwed up when loading some FLY!! sceneries, not knowing this was a totally different program, so much for a novice!! But the good news is I have rebuilt FS and just finished reloading ONLY my favorites, and FS works like a charm!! I will be very cautious when putting in addons, but suppose I will make mistakes again:(
