Recommended Posts

An AppHangB1 crash/freeze is hard to diagnose.  Your only course is to follow the suggestions on page 9, AVSIM CTD Guide, How to Fix Most Crashes/Freezes in P3DV4.  See link to the guide in my signature.

Best regards,

Jim

By the way, the airport works fine for me under V4, as well as several people I know.  I hope this helps you in your troubleshooting.  Don't forget to consider AI Traffic as a cause.

Thank you, both Jim and Dave. I have the CTD guide handy and going to implement its recommendations. Just a side note though, I'm very familiar with CTDs in X-plane and based on my experience, the culprit is nearly always intuitive. But that's just my two cents.

Kind regards,

A condescending remark.  People do not like to read manuals.  They just want to have things fixed or setup by someone else without having to read the manual.  I wish I could say, "to fix your problem, remove this xyz.bgl from your main p3d directory" or "delete your p3d.cfg, restart and let it rebuild".  I mean, it fixed it for 10 other people, so it should fix the apphang for you too.  As you probably know as you appear to have some understanding of computers, that's not the way computers around the world operate.  They work differently for everyone depending on how they configured it (is it overclocked???), what addons are installed, tweaks in the config, p3d settings, addon install, etc., etc.  You have to investigate YOUR issue because 99% of us are not having issues.  Just you and a couple of other people.  If it was the other way around, then I would say, this is Lockheed Martin's or FSDT's issue.

It is very rare that FSDT airports cause a CTD (you did not have a CTD but P3D froze or the application hung).  The AVSIM CTD Guide has several solutions that worked for others under Freezes.  It is like someone did a Google search for you and found several solutions for AppHangs or Freezes and presented this information to you.  We did the walking for you and did look for solutions that fixed this problem for others.  You just have to read the manual.

You obviously think it has something to do with KLAXv2.  That's a clue.  What happens if you disable or uninstall KLAX?  No more problems?  Then you might be right.  Have you thought about checking the FSDT AddonManager and seeing if it is installed properly?  Have you downloaded the latest Addon Manager from FSDT and installed that?  Is it showing up properly in your Addon Organizer?  FSDT and FlightBeam do a very good job at installing their products using the P3D addon SDK.  FSDT also has a Live Update icon they place on your desktop that you can run to make sure the product is installed properly.

It could also be your high OC.  Whenever someone overclocks their computer as high as yours, I immediately think that's the problem.  It is rare that anyone can overclock as high as you have and have successful flights 100% of the time.  P3D/FSX/XP11 use a lot of resources.  I say this as it has happened to me several times.  It was super stable yesterday and for the last two weeks but all of a sudden my FSX or P3D froze up on me or I got the infamous ntdll.dll/StackHash error.  I would bring the OC back down to optimized defaults (4.5GHz) (which is more than enough juice to run P3D).  But this is all in the AVSIM CTD Guide.

Hopefully you will find a solution after a full investigation of YOUR problem.

Best regards,

Jim

Dear Jim,

Neither my intentions nor the point of my remarks were meant to be condescending; I have great respect and appreciation for people like yourself who have given up their valuable time and efforts to help out the community. I think there's been a misunderstanding because I didn't exactly elaborate on what I meant with the use of "intuitive," a fairly vague term. By "intuitive," and I may be over-generalizing here, I mean most CTDs, at least based on my experience, occur after a new add-on, configuration etc. Although a robust and methodological approach is perhaps the most rational manner in which to diagnose and solve issues, it isn't necessarily the most efficient. And you're right, people don't like to read the manuals. But when you were just about to land in that beautiful new scenery and you encounter a CTD; the last thing you want is to spend a few hours going over config files etc. Anyways, I've been going over your CTD manual and find it extremely helpful.

Kind regards,

Apologize if I offended with my interpretation.  CTD's and freezes are very frustrating and I see a lot of comments when one doesn't exactly get the answer they wanted to hear.  Hopefully you will find a solution with the Guide.

Best regards,

Jim

After going through the CTD manual, I did manage to solve my issues at KLAX. And after a while of no CTDs, I just came across one right before landing at KSAN. Attached is my APPCRASH log. Assistance will be greatly appreciated.

P3D and KSAN is not at fault.  It is your StartMenu and maybe something wrong with Cortana?  She won't talk to you anymore or answer any of your questions?  This is the best link I could find regarding this error but people around the world are very, very upset - https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1cd36908-f416-401a-9ca0-d9b4d19fa1e7/windows-10-starmenu-tiles-locked-in-place-exportstartlayout-missing?forum=win10itprogeneral.  The second post at this link has a start menu troubleshooter and maybe that thingy will find the issue and fix it for you.  If not, you will have to go to Microsoft and see if they can find a solution.  It doesn't look good you will find a solution as this error seems to be recent.
