Cabling still a bit of a mess ... but I think I "might" hold the record for the number of concurrent working (not power cycling) GoFlight modules at 34 with a total of 42 USB devices connected to a single PC.  Now it's time to finish parts 2 and 3 of my GoFlight Interface Tool tutorials.

Impressive setup! Does your new monitor still run at 30 Hz? I‘m also interested in moving from my triple monitor setup to a 55 inch 4K TV, but I‘m having a hard time finding out which TV still supports 30 Hz.

I am impressed you can remember which button does what, even with lots of labels. I have a number of attached devices with buttons and switches and always seem to go back to using the sim and mouse except for the FMC and radios while flying.

I made a video here of setting up the monitor for 30Hz or 60Hz operation:

I've got 3 different 4K monitors over the years and they all have supported 30Hz operation without any issues (from low end to higher end price ranges) ... in most cases it's just a matter of setting the monitor up correctly as it's not always "default" that works best ... case in point is the default settings for Samsung when connected to my PC are completely wrong.

I can see that as being a problem, you need to fly more ... after a while it's like typing, you don't look at what you're adjusting you just do it subconsciously.  But with that said, I do try to keep the more common use items within quick reach.  My challenge is remembering which buttons, knobs are "active" for the many different types of aircraft I like to fly ... if I were bound to just one aircraft it would certainly be easier.  But like I suggested in another post, I belong to AA (Aircraft Anonymous).

Very impressive system Rob. That must be very immersive to fly.

Curious why you switched from Sony to Samsung? Was it the 12 bit color?

I was wondering two things watching your video. The first, as Mark stated, How does he remember the button assignments when switching aircraft? and the other was What is the power draw on that room?  I hope you don't have a demand rate structure with your electric company.

Carlito, I went from a triple monitor setup to a 55" 4k Sony TV. You'll be pleased to know that this only caused a drop of 2 or 3 FPS but the load on my GPU went up about 20%. I'm still using a 780 GTX so I'm pushing the limits of it. The site has fairly in depth reviews and tells you which TVs operate at 30hz and in what modes.

No, P3D, XP11, FSW, AF2 are all 8bit color so no real reason to move to 12bit (very few games actually support anything above 8bit color), I wanted a larger screen size going from 49" to 65".  Samsung and Sony both looked great at 65" and price was about the same, only difference was the curved Samsung, so thought I'd try the curve route.

What do you think of that curved screen vs. the flat?

For what I'm doing at my view position I think it's great ... the curve allows me to have my two side monitors closer to my seat position (and not block my view) since the curve brings the edge around towards me.  BUT, for regular TV/Movie watching on "normal" home use (several feet away), I would opt for flat.

I spent (wasted) a lot of time trying to decide between curved and flat. For flight simming it seemed that sitting so close and having a curve would be good but since I knew that my Flight Sim TV/monitor was going to eventually be in the TV room I opted for flat. Glad to hear you are happy with the curve.
