Problems with water textures

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I recently installed REX on my system and i have since experienced problems with all my water textures in FSX SE. All my water textures (land and at sea) are constantly flickering with a large amount of small white dots and has a "snowy" type affect, as though watching an old Tv with no picture tuned. It is happening from any altitude, at any time of day and at every location around the world. There is no detail in any water at all either. I have installed on my PC REX Essential Plus, FTX Base, Global, Vectors and other FTX products. I have tried changing all types settings in all my Addons and in FSX itself but nothing is correcting it. I have also tried running steves DX10 fixer aswell but still no luck. Anybody have any ideas of what could be causing this or what specific settings i can try adjusting, cheers

I had the same experience. My solution was to get rid of REX everything fine now. Seems REX and Orbx products not a friendly mix.

I spent yesterday trying to correct a green Hudson River and Lakes George and Champlain, in the end I altered water texture in REX to a more reality colour.  Cannot guarantee this will remain OK but hopeful. REX does seem problematic to some users, I use it with UTX USA , Canada and Europe,  normally it behaves !! You can try Google but I didn't find answers much help plus a lot of them are dated. Hope you fix the problem.

I've struggled with that problem since 2006. Nothing ever fixed it.

UNTIL this week. I picked up a GTX 1060 6Gb video card last Wednesday. I used Nvidia Inspector to set AA to 16xQ [16x CSAA (8 color + 8 cv samples)] and set AA SS to 8x Sparse Grid Supersampling. I set DX10 AA to 16xQ CSAA in DX10 Fixer. Problem solved. This card can do all that work and still hit 100+ FPS.

Unfortunately, the fix is to throw money at it.

I upgraded from a 750 Ti to the 1060. You might be able to get away with a 1050 Ti (or maybe even less), but I went with the 1060 because the difference in benchmark results between the two was substantial.

I have REX products. Apparently they work fine using ridiculous AA settings.
