GTN Trainer has stopped working

When I installed the GTN 750 I had to install .net framework. That installed, then I closed the window and it said someth9ing about an error may occur. I installed anyway. Configured the gauge from Addons and when launched I get an App crash. So I completely uninstalled everything except the registry settings using Revo Uninstaller. Restarted the computer, and reinstalled the GTN 750. Same issue. Here's what it says.

Looking at the Windows error logs I see this: Faulting Application Path:    C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\Trainers\GTN\bin\GTN Simulator.exe

 

 

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

Hi,

I'm glad you've sorted out the 'purchase' issue in reconfiguring Windows TLS settings.

Now, for this error, can you please post the content of the 'rxp' log files (file/path in the User's Manual) ?

You link does not work for me. Can't you just copy/paste the log file content?

The rxpGtnSim.dll.log is explicit, there is a problem there. Another user has reported a similar log file lately, and it has been found the issue was with the video card drivers on Window10.

I've seen another report about someone using a non-WHQL driver (AMD) solving his problem in installing a WHQL driver instead.

Have you cross checked there is no 'rxp' file in your antivirus quarantined list?

There is no firewall or anti-virus on the computer. I'm pretty sure the GPU driver is WHQL.

 

I do sometimes have oddities in approach lights and tower beacons. No matter what driver I use. I have to wonder if my GPU is going out or something. It's a GTX 560 TI.

Okay, updated the GPU drivers to the latest and now there's no errors in the log, except the gauge still crashes.

 

In event viewer I see this:

Am I suppose to run the Trainer at the same time I run FSX?

 

When I go to the bin folder and run GTN Simulator.exe, it's just a blank screen.

To verify operation of the standalone Garmin GTN Trainer go instead into the Launcher folder under RXP GTN_Trainers and try running Aviation_Trainer_Launcher.exe.  When the Launcher is up and running, select the GTN 750. (t may be the only gauge to select)  Then click power on and see if an operating GTN Trainer comes up.

We have a saying in french: "pourquoi faire simple quand on peut faire compliqué".

The gauge manages all this for you. You don't have to, and shouldn't, manually run the trainer. Just let the gauge do it for you. However, please follow Frank's advise to make sure it is capable of running at least standalone (close FltSim prior doing this of course).

Just so that other customers having a similar issue can find the good driver, what was the faulting driver version and what is the good one?

Well, the trainer works.  So that's not it.

 

The old GPU driver I was using was quite old for the purpose of another program. It was Nvidia version 327.23 for the GTX 560 TI. The new version is 388.71.
