GTN Trainer has stopped working

Description
Faulting Application Path:    C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\Trainers\GTN\bin\GTN Simulator.exe

I just noted what you posted from your log.  Just like when you went to find the Trainer the path is important. In that case knowing about the Launcher was key.  The path above for the faulting application does not match the path on my system.  That could be for a couple of reasons, such as options configured during setup. You may have already done this, but it would be good to take a look at your path and folders to see if that path is correct for your installation.

The path for my installation looks like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\RXP GTN_Trainers\GTN\bin\GTN Simulator.exe.

@fppilot this is the normal default installation path for GTN Trainer v6.41

You might have manually changed it during installation so that you'd keep 2 different GTN trainers installed, although in this case, both GTN 6.21 and GTN 6.41 install side-by-side.

Duh! I am remiss at my faux pas. I indeed did control the installation. That to preserve an earlier non-RXP GTN.  Over time I forgot that.  My mistake. That installation choice would today be unnecessary if you sense my flight plan.  Sorry for any confusion.

So my path is correct then?

I'm at a lose here and if I can't get this to work, I would like a refund.

There is something I've totally missed in your log files: what is your FSX version?

Can you please right click fsx.exe | properties | details and report the version number?

Thank you for the info! It is a supported simulator version.

Are you running FSX-SP2 as admin or normal user, eventually, can you please try running it as normal user?

Do you have any third party modules/add-ons loaded with FSX-SP2 as well, and eventually, can you please also try disabling these to cross-check if this is the source of the problem?

It seems your are running Win7, is this Win7 32 or 64 bits?

Windows 7 64 bit. I have assigned a group policy setting to get rid of Admin. I think for the most part I don't need to run anything as Admin. I don't see how normal user or Admin will affect anything. I can't switch back to normal user because I forgot the exact group policy setting I set to disable Admin. I could research and find out I guess. I think as good measure I enabled Admin for the FSX.exe as well. And it runs in XP SP3 compatibility. I can play with these settings.

I do have third party modules and that was my thought on why I have this App crash. I have FSUIPC (which shouldn't be an issue) FSXSave, and the modules for the DRM *&#^% associated with FSDreamTeam airports and FlightBeam airports. When I updated their module it also installed their GSX module and I don't have GSX.  There's no why I'm getting rid of my payware airports just to run a gauge. I mean, I bought them.

I'm now wondering if it's indeed my video card. It's a GTX 560 TI and I bought it about 5 years ago as B-stock at EVGA's website. While it has and still does (to my observation) work well for my needs, I see some oddities in the Sim. Like the ALS lights at Denver look like laser beams with the normal lights as well. I mean, the ALS lights flow down the runway, but withen these lights are laser beams. This same laser beam issue can be observed with the airport light beacon. The rotating beacon shows up, but there's some laser beam qualities to it.  Also, when I fly my F22 and the afterburners are on, looking at the plane from spot view will show for a moment a large black square and then disappear and then everything is normal withen 2 seconds. The same thing happens in the select aircraft box. When I end the flight and the spinning F22 shows up in the select aircraft screen, for a moment it's all black and goes back to normal. This all despite using three or four different GPU drivers. I'm now using the latest GPU driver.

I have just bought a replacement GTX 560 TI on ebay for the time being until I get a GTX 1060 to see if the problem is mitigated. I recently upgraded my RAM for a total of 8 GB. I had only 4GB at the time as that was all I could afford. I have also swapped out the 5 year old Antec Gamer 520 PSU for a new Antec Edge 750 watt PSU. Over kill but was cheap. Figured why not, I might go SLI one day.

If after I replace the GPU and I still have this issue, I suppose I could completely remove the FSDreamTeam and Flightbeam airports and see if that fixes anything. I've been contemplating about reinstalling the OS. But what a PITA that will be. I used sysprep when I built this computer last May. I transferred the in place OS from my old computer to the new computer as I so didn't want to reinstall and reconfigure everything. That's like an 8 hour endeavor. That's why I periodically clone to an external HDD. If the HDD goes out or something else, I can clone back and it will be like nothing ever changed.  Done it before with my netbook using USB.

Anyway, I'll await this new (albeit used) GPU to arrive and see what happens.

Hi, the artifacts you're describing are usually related, if not because of a program or driver bug, to a failing, an over clocked or an over heating video card indeed.

An update. I got my replacement GPU on ebay and it was a dud so now I'm going through the process of getting my money back. I just went ahead and bought a GTX 1050 and once installed I'll see what happens. I have backed up my data in preparation of a Windows reinstall as well.

Well, I replaced the GPU with a GTX 1050 TI, still the gauge doesn't work. Then I completely reinstalled Windows and FSX and STILL! the gauge does not work. Keeps crashing. How do I get a refund? I don't see anything on the website. 50 dollars is a lot of money and I don't have a lot of money to blow.

Hi, it is unfortunate you are not able to enjoy the Reality XP GTN on your system, and I hope we'll get the chance to see you back in our community in the future! I've sent you a PM.
