Hi All

I have received a computer for P3Dv4 use with

1) a Intel i5. 3570K overclocked to 4.5GHz

2) a Gainward GeForce GTX 970  4GB Graphics card

3) 16GB DDR3L 1866 UDIMM memory

The motherboard would take in upgrades

1) Intel i7 8700K 3.7GHz

2) a GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB Graphics Card

3) 32 DDR3 PC3 12800 Memory

What would be the best way forward?

What would be the best order of purchase?

Any thoughts appreciated

I wouldn't do anything soon. I think that computer will run P3Dv4 just fine.........Doug

Hi Doug

Thanks-I am coming to the same conclusion especially as discovering that I have almost the same spec as one of my “hero’s” Rob Abernathy

There is a thread over on the Orbyx Forums just  now discussing this very topic

I am now doubly reassured!

Greatly value your advice -thanks

Not the case, I'm afraid. That processor needs a different socket and chipset.

Having said that, I agree with Doug. Your system should run nicely as it is. I'd consider a better graphics card if you want to run at 4K but I'd definitely try it first with the existing one.

Hi vortex681

I have a ASUS P8 Z77-V LX motherboard just out of interest

Been informed that it would take that particular GPU.

Wrong advice obviously

Thanks for your input

GPU yes, CPU no.
