Upgrading to 2.4

Recommended Posts

Sorry for the stupid question. How do I upgrade from v2.3? just install it over that version, or a full uninstall and install?

From the website download page -

"DO NOT UNINSTALL ANYTHING. If you want to keep your existing data, use the Update program download below."

I am a bit confused because it says:

"If updating from a version prior to 2.4.0.0, you MUST do a FULL INSTALL. No update is available."

You are correct. If you have a version prior to 2.4 you must do a full install. There were major changes, not least of which were the 64 bit version.

Be sure you are updating from 2.3 and NOT 2.4.0.3.

If you actually have 2.4.0.3 then all you need is the updater and install it right over top of what you have.

Bottom line, as Bill said, it is spelled out pretty clearly on the download page. Read carefully and you should be fine.

Assuming you're running on the same PC as before, the license should just work.  Again, DO NOT Uninstall anything...otherwise it could mess up the license.

If you're doing the full install, coming from version 2.3.x.x, then you can either install over your current installation or install to a new directory altogether.  Either way should work.
