Starting P3D v4.2

Featured Replies

Hello Simulator friends,

lately I have encounterred a unpleasant problem when starting subject Sim.

Can anyone hopefully inform me why when starting the Sim the Loading Terrain Data and Auto-Generated scenery takes minutes (someimes approx 5 mins) and if so provide me with a positive solution?

Kind regards

Dirk

If you're running addon scenery, get SimStarter NG from Aerosoft. Great program. Lets you just run the programs and scenery that you need for a given flight. I use it every time I fly, greatly decreases loading times for me.

+1. Mine can sometimes take 10+ min. But what I want to know, is this normal for v4.2?? Or generally what everyone else is experiencing? Because I've never had this until now with p3d4.2. My p3dv3's and 4.0 and 4.1 never took this long loading the terrain data, and auto-generated scenery.

When I upgraded to 4.2, I also wanted to change the file location from where my original 4.1 was, so I just did a fresh full install of 4.2, and ported a lot of things over. Initially, I thought it was something that I may have done wrong, like doubled up on Bgl's or scenery folders some how.

With 4.1, it never took as long as it is taking now taking 4.2 to load a flight. And I don't event have all of my payware, that I did in 4.1, ported over, and up and running yet.

Same here, it started after having installed v4.2.

In my case loading times decreased after I had run the "delete P3D generated folders" routine from the P3D main folder. Be good advised to make backup copies from these folders/files before you run it. I have no idea why it decreased loading times significantly in my case. But, maybe it is worth a try ?
