May 30, 200620 yr There is a very nice little Mil Mi-1 available on Avsim.ru.Downloaded it and was immediately struck by the quality of the model, panel and flight dynamics. It takes 5 minutes to set up the joystick configuration. The joystick has to be disabled in FS for this to work properly. Don't worry, it will not affect you other aircraft. Just enable the joystick in FS again. My only problem is the rotor texture (vint.bmp), which shows a multi-sided opaque disk when spinning. Seems to have a transparency issue.Grateful for any information as to how I can fix this. Many thanks,http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?action=download&id=6349 John
May 30, 200620 yr Just downloaded it myself, John ... looks fun.At first glance, I see that the bitmap for the prop circle has no alpha/transparency. I'll play with this myself presently unless someone beats me to it!MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
May 30, 200620 yr Great Mark. Thanks. It seems a pity for such a good representation of this classic. John
May 31, 200620 yr JohnI fiddled with this for ten minutes after reading your post this morning - I love the helo by the way, thanks a million for highlighting it - and then again tonight. The more I played with it, the more I didn't like it, so I'm back to where I was after ten minutes this morning! My treatment is by trial and error, but it's a lot better than the file supplied, I think.Try it: http://www.paxship.com/unzipthis.zipLet me know what you think. May 31, 200620 yr Author HIThanks, Mark, for the "vint.bmp" and to you John, for bringing this neat helo to my attention. It is of excellent quality in all respects and flies beautifully. I am a little confused about your remark that the joystick configuration had to be set up and that the joystick disabled in FS. I just flashed it up and flew as I normally would. I admit I did start it via the R-22 then switching to the Mil Mi-1.I did send the author an e-mail ( auto-translated into Russian) asking if he could provide me with anything unusual I should know about otherwise. Regret I couldn't read the Russian read-me.Gary
June 1, 200620 yr Mark.My humble apologies for not replying and thanking you earlier.I got completely confused as I had my question up on a number of forums.I'm going to have to get a secretary!!:-hah Anyway, many thanks for the file. John

June 1, 200620 yr >I am a little confused about your remark that the joystick>configuration had to be set up and that the joystick disabled>in FS. >Gary Hi Gary.Although I am sure it will fly with the default joystick configuration, the joystick config fle that comes with the Kamov is worth using as it is possible to set many parameters such as clutch engagement, rotor trim, etc.More to the point, I found that controlling the aircraft using the joystick controller that comes with it gave me much smoother responses and control, especially near to the ground. It must be coded using a different approach from the Microsoft version as you need to disable the joystick in FS for it to work as it should.By the way, it is the identical joystick controller used in Project Tupolev's Tu-154 and Ilyushin Il-62M. John
June 1, 200620 yr Author Thank you, John, that clears it up for me. I fly the advanced 206 DODO helo and it too requires adjustment to the joystick configuration.Do you read Russian or do you have access to an English translation?cheersGary
June 1, 200620 yr No Russian I'm afraid Gary, so I make full use of Babel Fish.It has a "Translate s Web Page" function which can be quite useful when it works. There are forums in English for some of the main Russian aircraft developers such as Project Tupolev and Nemeth Brothers.http://www.protu-154.com/forum/http://forums.simflight.com/viewforum.php?f=156 John
