Post removed re: FSGS ?

Featured Replies

I made a post the other day about the FSGS service I used, and it was removed? I have emailed both Mr's Salter and Allensworth and no reply so I'm trying this route. If I broke some rule I would like to know.

If you sent me an email, I never received it. But the answer to your question is; I removed it because it read like a blatent advertisement for the service and it is a controversial subject (at least it is here).

GEE That's a first from you , tom.I saw paul golding do that all day long at the screenshot forum right before his precious 727 was release...

Tom,Thank you for answering. Now, may we expand on that a bit?Blatant advertizment? How about excited testimonial from a satisfied user? I don't own that company, don't know Michael, and if it wasn't for other users posting about it, I would never have used it.If something being "controversial" is grounds for removal, then I guess we have reached a new level of censorship. When I find a product and service, especially on the internet, that gives its customers outstanding service and support, I tend to think that others may want to know about it.I am relatively new to FS, and I did the exact same thing in these and other forums when I dealt with the developers of GE and FE. There are #### few companies that not only deliver what they say, but back it up with outstanding service also. It's your ballpark, and if 'controversy' constitutes grounds for removal, perhaps you should make that part of your forum rules. I don't know where you are located, but here in the US, we thrive on controversy.Jay Gardner

Errrrrr..........no you did not. There were no screenshots by me (not allowed in any case) or any member of the team, including beta team before it released.A few of the beta team posted shots after release (as they are allowed) and my wife has 2 posts to her name before you mention that.In future, please get your facts straight.........thanks.Dreamfleet Project ManagerGreatest Airliners - DC-8Greatest Airliners - 727 Whisperjethttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg

I just saw the other post, I thought you were replying to me.....I'm off now to locate and consume vast amounts of caffeine, nicotine, and suger, the 3 basic foodgroups !

In case you hadn't noticed, in the US there's also a law that states that when you're on someone's property you have to respect his wishes. This site is Tom's property. There has been a lot of talk about FSGS in the past, and it always ends in a big shouting match between people who like them and a small but highly vocal group who don't.I fully agree with Tom if he doesn't want that.

As I said, and you must have missed.."It;s his ballpark and he can certainly do what he wants'. I know nothing about any previous shouting matches, but I see them about other products daily, and for me, I use them to make informed decisions.I am coming back to this later today.

>In case you hadn't noticed, in the US there's also a law that>states that when you're on someone's property you have to>respect his wishes.no I dont believe there is a law like that......not here in the US anyway........

You're on private property. The owner of that property can do whatever he wants there as long as it's not illegal. If he doesn't want you, he can tell you to leave. If you don't, he can call the police to throw you off.If you pull a weapon on him, he has (in the US at least) the right to kill you. That's the law.

>If you sent me an email, I never received it. But the answer>to your question is; I removed it because it read like a>blatent advertisement for the service and it is a>controversial subject (at least it is here).Me Allensworth,Now that I am coherent, or as much as I can be, I would like to hear a more specific answer, if thats possible, because I am truly confused here.In direct response to your answer above, I see many posts here that I would consider advertizing and/or controversial. It seems that this is a gathering place for some 'heavy hitters' in the FS world, from both the free and payware people, as well as users of FS.I have looked over the entire site for a set of rules pertaining to posting here, to ensure I abide by whatever is required. Nowhere can I find anything that relates to your reasons for removing my post.I have no knowledge of any previous problem with FSGS and this forum. In fact I discovered a 'Product Review' in these very forums by a staff reviewer for Avsim.. http://www.avsim.com/pages/0306/FSGS/fsgs.htm which led me to research the FSGS service.Hense my confusion: How can a staff reviewer post a glowing, extremely positive review and a user post basicly the same thing, and one gets removed? I suspect, and it's only a suspicion, that there is some 'behinds the scenes' personality conflicts here.I am a manager of an online game, and part of my duties are to admin our forums, so I can understand what admins have to put up with daily. It's your forum and your rules, but it's impossible to comply with them unless I know what they are. I would prefer to hear directly from Tom, as I am already fully aware of most US laws and this thread is a bit more important than bickering about unrelated material.RespectfullyJay Gardner

A staff reviewer is working under strict rules and guidelines, he's a known quantity who is is known to not have an agenda except to bring out the truth as he sees it (whether positive or not).Someone posting in the forums, especially under a pseudonym and especially if he's not a longtime member whose history is known, cannot be so certified to not have ulterior motifs.People in the past have abused these (and other) forums to post advertising for their products and services in the guise of highly positive user experience reports. That's against the rules. If in addition any thread about a specific product or service invariably reverts to a shouting match, choosing to remove such threads as soon as possible helps keep the sanity of the forums at a level slightly above that of a henhouse after the fox was chased away.

I am fully aware of the general concepts involving general forum protocols and would like to hear from Tom himself. If I have to be vetted before my posts are certified, then there are obviously much deeper problems here. However, until/if Tom replys, I am done with this.
