【Big Issue】P3Dv4 Crashes on Startup

Featured Replies

After reinstalling my P3Dv4 I got a very strange issue, everytime I start P3D it normally starts up, but when the Scenario page opens, P3D stops responding and some texts turns blurry. It doesn't crash immediately but after a long time (about 5 minutes) it says "P3D has stopped working" then crash. I can't even access the choose vehicle or airport pages. I searched for many solutions but they don't seem helpful. It's no use to delete and regenerate %programdata%\Lockheed Martin or the prepar3d.cfg. Now I can't even fly... so do anyone know how to solve this issue? Thx.

My current version is 4.2, this problem also existed on 4.0 and 4.1

If you do not receive any helpful responses, you may want to post your situation on the "Crash to Desktop (CTD) Forum here at Avsim.

Have you looked at your Windows Event Viewer to see if there is any helpful hints to what is causing your CTD? Do you have the program called AppCrash? That can also give you some helpful information regarding what's causing your CTD. Finally, on the CTD forum here at Avsim, there is a very helpful "Avsim CTD Guide" that may be of help to you.

Hope you get your problem resolved.

Thank you, but I didn't find any events related to P3D in my event log which is very strange.. They are all about other applications and they are all considered "information" not "warning" or "error"

but I'm sure that this issue is related to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

As stated in the AVSIM CTD Guide, whenever P3D or FSX crashes at startup, it is most likely a module being loaded by one of the two dll.xml's.  You have to find the module and the Guide shows you how around page 10.  For me, if I have a crash at startup, it's an outdated fsuipc.dll or the CMeteoXml.dll from Carenado.  If you have tried to install any software not specifically developed for P3D, then you should check those programs out as they are probably the cause too.  When you see a crash report or Event, it will always show the application that was running when the event occurred.  It does not mean the application is at fault.  It could be anything.
