Simflyers Forum....

Featured Replies

Since they took the time to run an ad on AVSIM, I hope they take the time read this. Your forum will not allow me to register. I have tried 3 different names and email addresses over the last week. The forum reports it is sending an email but never does. The really frustrating part is there is no link (I can find) for any other contact with you folks. I have prepaid for the "X" series and would like to have at least 1 way to communicate with you. Thanks.Bob..

Hello Bob:I am assuming that you are trying to contact SimFlyers through their "contact us" link on their web page:[email protected] am just a customer too, but have always been able to get a response from these folks, so at least there is a possibility that there is a technical communication problem of some kind, not that they are ignoring you.Good luck:RTH

Hi and thank you. I am apparently blind as I still cannot find any "contact us" link on their website. I will try the email link you suggested and appreciate your response. Bob..

Simflyer (simflyer.net) which does the navigational software or Simflyers (simflyers.net) which does the airport scenery? How Simflyer got away with using such a similar name beats me! Simflyers have been around long before them. It can make things a little confusing!

Thanks

Hi again!I guess I don't even have the correct name in my subject! LOL. I am referring to Simflyer.net (ASIM front page) which has zero contact information as far as I can tell. I didn't realize there are two vendors with similar names. Thanks again!Bob...EDIT UPDATE: I was able to get a registration email this AM on my computer at work. I have never had a problem with my home network receiving emails. Either they fixed the problem or my home system doesn't like their emails. :) And I guess I don't care which.

Some would say it doesn't really matter, but the fact is it can hurt sales and reputation of the other company. For example, suppose people have a very bad experience on a purchase with Simflyer. A couple of months down the road Simflyers comes out with a new product. You recognize the name but associate it with the other company, you had the bad experience with. so you refuse to even look at it. The same can be true in reverse, so Simflyer is also taking a chance by having such a similar name themselves. I asked the Developer of Simfyers about this and they said they knew about it, but didn't have the resources to do anything about it. Assuming this was unintentional I think it would be prudent on Simflyer part to do the right thing and change their name to avoid this conflict.

Thanks

Hello again Bob:I am more confused than you are.If you bring up the website I mentioned, and include as follows:http://www.simflyers.net/The top text in large print should be "SimFlyers Assoicated"You should then see a series of red links below this as follows from left to right:"Home" and "News" (The two words one above the other)"Sceneries" and "Downloads" (The two words one above the other)"AI Trafic""Under" and "Development" (The two words one above the other)"Order""Support" and "FAQ" (The two words one above the other."Links"And then the eighth text from left to right in red:"Contact Us"If you don't see this, we are on different pages. If you didn't see this, I don't have any idea where the link is that you say "I will try the email link you suggested" is? The email address to which I refer is brought up by clicking on the "contact us" link to which I refer.I wonder if as another reply mentioned if we are talking about two different contributors and sources?Best of luck:RTH

Unfortunately for us, if they feel that it is to their advantage to have a similar name, I doubt that they may be anxious to change from a similar title. If I were starting a new effort, I would be thrilled to be mistakenly believed to be one or two of the best contributors to FS.However, this view may be unfair to the provider in question and I am not meaning to grade either site in question in this catagory. It is confusing to we the users though isn't it?Hope this is not a picture of the future:Happy flying:RTH

I am more confused than you are.If you bring up the website I mentioned, and include as follows:http://www.simflyers.net/The top text in large print should be "SimFlyers Assoicated"I thik he was trying to get to the Navigational Software Simflyer.net. He is right there is no contact info that I could find just the support forum which he couldn't register. (Bob got the registration email at home so he's ok though! Your confusion though illustrates my point of having 2 companies in the same field of business with essentially having the same name. Generally it's not a good idea. Do you think for example Kodak would allow another company in the photography business to be called Kodaks? I don't think so!

Thanks

Hello Tom:Point well taken!I am sure we are talking about two differnt anamials. What I fear is that possibly we may see more of this intentially even though in this case I sincerely hope no such purpose was intended. Thanks for the comment.RTH

Your ISP (or email provider) may be identifying the email as spam and is blocking it!!
