Flight planner/British airports

Featured Replies

Hello all,I have a big problem with British airports east and south-east.I have been posting in the just flight's forums and can't get a reply. (not the first)When i open flight simulator 2004, i began thinking "I'll hop across the pond with concorde".I clicked flight planner, then chose VFR, then clicked the starting airport (the airport i'm going to depart). I then looked at the bottom left-hand screen to click "Search addon-scenery", but this was blanked out. I could see it, but i couldn't click it. It seemed that i can't fly from an airport that has a scenery upgrade, to the one that hasn't.I have the software installed, i can start off with an airport with the upgrade, but i can't have active flight plans with this problem! Could somebody help me please?thanks, robbie

Robbie,It's blanked out on my system too. Don't worry. Choose IFR and the option becomes available.Firstly, if you're flying Concorde you need to choose IFR not VFR. Secondly, many 3rd party scenery packages don't have entries in the addon scenery option. If you're departing Heathrow you'll find all the gates you need under the default scenery option and those will include any extra gates that 3rd party package has included.Cheers,

thanks very much, but i chose IFR and the blooming thing is still blanked out.robbie

In my view you would be better to get hold of a proper flight planner like FSBuild (www.fsbuild.com) rather than relying on the old, not updated and not very good Microsoft offering.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual [email protected]http://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

i'm not paying for that. Anyway, i'm on about the scenery not letting me have a flight plan.

sorry, i know you are trying to help. It's just the new scenery i got won't let me have a flight plan using VFR or IFR.

Hi Robbie,I'm a little confused about where you are flying from/to and at what point the problem occurs? It may help if you tell us where you want to fly from/to.Are you saying you can select an airport in the USA as a starting point but cannot select a destination airport in the UK?I can select KJFK as a starting point then, with 'Search default scenery' ticked search United Kindom->London and then select any of the 5 London airports without a problem.I don't have British Airports (UK2000) East and South-East but do have UK2000 London Airports which includes the 5 London airports. As Ray said you need to search default scenery, not the add-on scenery. If, following the above, you still cannot see any London airports it suggests that they have not been activated in the scenery library.More information please to provide better help.

well, i'm going to try out your suggestions. It only happens when i want to fly out in any airport in the east and south-east. When i click flight planner, the "search for add-on scenery is blanked out."I think i see the problem. The help was most appreciated.robbie

Robbie,I've come back a bit late because of the football. So if you've sorted the problem please explain what it was. I'm curious :-)Cheers,

Robbie,If I remember correctly, the airport package in question will install automatically and doesn't need activating in the add-scenery section. When you go to select the airport you want to fly from/to, just use the default FS9 menu's. The airports are listed as they were before you installed the package (if you are looking for an 'upgraded' one...)I frequently fly to, and from the UK2000 replacements for RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall and have no trouble making a flightplan using the standard FS9 system, under either VFR, or IFR.Just make sure that when you install the CD, that you set to install the correct version (FS2002, or FS2004; sounds obvious I know...sorry!). When you start FS9 it'll go through the adding new scenery routine automatically and you should then be able to find the 'new' UK2000 airport (not under 'search add-on scenery).

Thanks, guys. But the gates have not been added to the list. I can't find the "concorde stand", or gate T4 which is the stand. Is there something wrong there?

Robbie,Concorde used stands V13 and V14 at Terminal 4. It won't be described as a Concorde stand as other aircraft would also use it.Those should be available assuming British Airports London is as good as UK2000 by Gary Summons. If your problem persists please post your scenery.cfg.Cheers,
