Indicated speed suddenly disappear...

Featured Replies

Hi!Lately I`ve experienced that the indicated speed in several aircraft suddenly disappear during flight. The only thing I can hold on to is the groundspeed in the GPS-display. For short while though, the speed indication comes back. Anyone who knows what`s wrong? It`s annoying sometimes and ruins the realism, `cause it can bring the plane into overspeed.Regards,Jan Ove Larssen

Your pitot tube iced over, turn on your pitot heat.

" It`s annoying sometimes and ruins the realism"LOL.. Yeah..Realism does that to you.:)Yup.. Your pitot tube is probably blocked due to icing conditions like Zane says?Manny

I had a "friend" who once forgot to take the tennis ball off the pitot tube :-/. Interesting return to landing that was.But in this case, the OP said he loses airspeed indication. Sounds like, if it's not ice, perhaps a bug is clogging the pitot tube?Is this down in Florida? Maybe a Palmetto?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)
