As someone who has switched from a TV to a monitor are you happy with the (presumably increased) quality? Is it significantly better than a TV? Is the smaller screen a drawback? I'm also in the market for a UHD monitor. Pity they stop at 32". This BenQ one is on my short list. https://www.benq.eu/en-uk/monitor/designer/pd3200u.html Ray (Cheshire, England). Something up to 36” would be ideal but as it stands the BenQ looks the best for me. It would be interesting to hear what you think about it. Ray (Cheshire, England). After watching many reviews on YT, I was convinced this might be the right monitor for me. Was intending to go for a Samsung 43' UHD TV, but as this monitor is factory calibrated, I thought this might be a better option 43 is about as big as I can go. I'm convinced monitors are higher quality than TVs. They have the added benefit of having several USB ports which can be a life saver. Ray (Cheshire, England). October 27, 20187 yr Apparently the monitor above does NOT support HDR which is a deal breaker for me. Are you using it for watching UHD Blu-rays as well as flight simming? HDR in P3D is not the same as HDR for television. Ray (Cheshire, England). This BenQ one is on my short list. https://www.benq.eu/en-uk/monitor/designer/pd3200u.html I am into photography so I needed a monitor with a wide color gamut, specifically Adobe RGB. I am really happy with the monitor, lots of options to tweak the color, brightness, sharpness, and calibrate, etc... It's super bright, I can now sim in the middle of the day with blinds open on a sunny day. It also has the option to turn on a blue light filter for your eye health! It also has another option called scenery mode, it simulates HDR! I really wanted an HDR monitor but there are very little options in the monitor space. Especially since the HDR standards are still in flux and there are no dynamic metadata HDR monitors on the market yet. I am not sure about a TVs since I've been using my monitors for years as a TV(Netflix, Youtube). It depends on the TV and monitors specs. A professional monitor is going to have more options for a wider selection of color gamuts(SRGB, ADOBE, DCI-P3), + they are going to have lower input lag, etc. A really good tv is going to be in 55"+ range, too big for a desk. TVs in the 40" range are not that great with HDR and color gamut compared to the 55+. An Oled TV would be interesting! Problem is the burn-in, and you would have to set it up 5' to 10' away for viewing. Next year should be interesting for TVs with HDMI 2.1 spec and High Frame Rate(HFR)! The smaller screen is not a drawback, I thought it would be since I was so used to the 43". Believe it or not 32" feels plenty big for a desktop gaming! That monitor looks pretty decent! The color space does not look very wide. I would look at something with at least DCI-P3 support. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1434507-REG/dell_u3219q_ultrasharp_32_4k.html Edited October 27, 20187 yr by strider1 AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 4080S, Ram - 32GB, 32" 4K Monitor, WIN 11.
