I run P3Dv.4 on my main monitor, and generally fly "non-windowed" full screen.    I would like to use the Electronic Flight Bag Program that would run in the background on my flight computer, but be displayed on a second monitor.    To be honest, I think I tried this set up in the past but found that P3D had an issue when I tried to use EFB and display it on a second monitor.  I forget exactly what the anomaly was, but I believe either the flight sim screen went dark, or I could not fly in full screen mode with the other monitor in use.

Can anyone give me some insight on what works and doesn't work?

Thanks for your help!

Kevin,

As far as I know, you cannot undock a screen in non window mode. However, I have to admit that I am a P3Dv4 newbie and suffering numerous problems myself.

I tried this non window  mode in FS2004 using 6 monitors but got nowhere. I am assuming it is much the same in P3Dv4.

Please bear in mind that I could actually be very wrong and maybe someone else can put you on the right track.

Kevin,

When you enter full screen mode it’s effectively becoming a DOS window so the second screen will turn blank. That’s been the situation since multiple displays were supported in Windows.

The easy option is to stay in windowed mode. Pressing Alt will remove the menu and you can hide the Windows taskbar. All that remains is the Windows title bar and that can be adjusted in Windows to make it smaller.

The alternative is a second PC and run EFB on that which is what I do.

You can run full screen and uncheck “black out desktop”. This allows you to run and view programs on an additional monitor. I use this technique with three monitors. A view group on two and undocked p3d Windows and/or moving map (little nav map) on the third.

It’s not perfect, when running Little nav map the task bar gets displayed on top of p3d.  I suppose you could set the task bar to auto hide but have never bothered.
