  1. Also a big mention, although different era .... Frank Mills Chickadee Tony
  2. Always loved this
  3. Mace, Yes mate, I think I am stuck between a rock and a hard place with this. I would like to make three notes to your response. 1. I have no problem whatsoever with the Working Title G1000 ... it is incredibly functional and, as far as I can tell, very accurate. The only hastle is that in VR it is very difficult to change the frequency or even swap from Comms or Nav 1 to 2 in a bumpy flight. Reverting to key pressing 1 or 2 in the ATC panel is somewhat immersion killing. Changing frequencies is NOT a problem in non VR flight. 2. I am very much aware of the FSReborn effort and I am thoroughly convinced it will be a brilliant addition to MSFS2020. It certainly has to surpass the efforts of the current Phenom 300 according to reviews and users initial impressions. I am just hoping that it may have a GTN750 option if not standard. 3. The cockspur Phenom 100 is äpparently" a lightweight with little complexity so I may be better off waiting for FSReborn. I remember thoroughly enjoying the simple phenoms in P3D and of course the incomparable Phenom 300 from Aerobask in Xplane 11. However these were (for me) non VR flights. I also remember (fondly) Bert Pieke giving me incredible help with GTNs in various aircraft via Panel configuration changes in P3D. Maybe, I am just hoping that this may be possible with MSFS2020. Finally, I have decided that I will not consider buying the Cockspur Phenom without the ability to change the WT G1000. For me, at best, it will be a fun little uncomplicated aircraft to fly, but only with the GTN. Thanks also for the suggestion of the aftermarket G1000 hardware and I think you may well be right in that it would not be worth it. I think it would certainly be worth it if not for the VR factor. Cheers mate Tony
  4. Sorry Guys, I hate to pester you but any other ideas or hints please Tony
  5. Ryanbatc, Mate, thank you so much for your response which, of course, makes a lot of sense. however I only have 2 spare rocker switches on my second saitek throttle quadrant. I could very well use those to rock back and forth from Comms to Nav but that still leaves me with the problem of altering the frequency itself in bumpy VR Flight. I am currently using the mouse for this type of function. and when moving this is pretty well a hit and miss operation. I am also, uncertain whether the G1000 in the PH100 is actually old school or indeed the Working Title version, but obviously I would very much like to replace it for the PMS GTN. Again, I stress that I have no problem with the functionality of the G1000 but the Frequency changing with the dials as opposed to the keyboard of the GTN is almost a deal breaker for me, I may well look into the entire remapping of my controls but I have to admit also that that is a last resort effort. Thanks again mate I really appreciated your response. Cheers Tony
  6. Hello all, This is probably for Bert Pieke. I am looking at purchasing the Cockspur PHenom 100 but I notice from their website that they have the G1000 (presumably thge Working Title version) Whilst this unit in all my aircraft equipped with it and its performance is outstanding, I particularly dislike changing comms and Nav frequencies and find it very difficult and fiddly, particularly in VR. As Such, I am wondering if it is possible (and how) to convert the PH100 to the GTN750. I assume from all the reviews, which are not in the "rave"category, that it is a fairly simple and uncomplicated aircraft so the effort required to convert may or may not be worth it. Is there a JD version for the PH100 or does it have to be done manually. I have the premium version of the PMS GTN750 and would hope to utilize this. I would love any information that the community can impart to this old and feeble mind. Regards Tony
  7. Hello all, I have a question for you all who love the 5090 and have or will upgrade from the 4090. If you have a smooth 60FPS with total Ultra settings in MSFS, what is the difference between them if you get 200FPS. Is there some sort of discernable difference? Is it tangible or imagination. I have an AMD system (CPU and GPU) and with all settings in VR maxed out I get an amazing 28-35 FPS in VR, but it is silky smooth and the graphics are amazing. Admittedly I am using Quest 2, but in reality I would really only contemplate upgrading to 4090 or 5090 if I wanted to go to 8k resolution in VR. I acknowledge that my system may be somewhat inadequate for that. Am I being naive or just being too financially practical. Regards to all Tony
  8. hello everyone, I seem to have lost the plot here but I want to thank all who responded to my plight. However the problem has been solved but I still do not know what the problem was. I uninstalled and reinstalled MSFS2020 which did not fix the problem. I followed that with a Win 11 uninstall and reinstall and Voila. all OK. All in all, a long and laborious process but eventually all was worth while. So again, thank you to all who responded and as usual those responses were really appreciated. Regards Tony
  9. Mate, Thanks for your reply. I do not think any of it is relevant however as I do not have 2024 yet. My 2020 is also on drive D Thanks again Tony
  10. Jaytee, I have just finished uninstalling that via Control Panel and reinstalling. I have rebooted and the problem still exists. I cannot get rid of the idea that the "folder is open"is the source of the problem in my mind and I really feel that I should be starting there. However, the fact that a reboot of the computer, to my mind, should close all programs before closing down and therefore not be open when the computer restarts. The fact that MSFS2020 Community folder feels that something is open seem (to me) to be the problem but I do not know how to fix this. Regards Tony
  11. Lucky38i, I have not installed a new Modern UI and the one installed worked very well for a number of years. The same applies to the Map replacement program. I do not believe that this or these programs are the problem. The problem initially started after running MSFS2020 for a couple of hours and then shutting it down for about an hour to check emails etc. The problems were noticed immediately after a restart for a flight from YBCS to YBTL in the default baron. I appreciate your response though. Regards Tony
  12. Hello all, A couple of problems have just arisen for me in MSFS2020. I recently posted a topic asking for Modern ui 2.0 which I have acquired with thanks. When I unzipped it and before installation, I then went looking in my community folder and it was already there. So I rebooted the computer and fired up MSFS2020. To my dismay I noticed two things 1. I have retained the original ui, and 2. Despite using MSFS map replacement to start the program, I noticed that the scenery (TAI scenery YBCS) is very very standard MSFS2020. so I deleted that scenery and reinstalled it. This produced absolutely NO difference, so something is amiss here. I noted that all my add on aircraft are recognised. I also tried my YBBN scenery and the same standard MSFS scenery has been applied. I have concluded that some of the community folder is being utilized and some is not ie all aircraft recognised but scenery and UI are not. For some strange reason I then thought that I would rename the Community folder and see if I got the same results. However, I could not rename it because it was open in another folder. So I rebooted again and tried to rename the folder again and found that it was still open in another folder. Strange after a reboot. There are no files open in file explorer. I cannot help thinking that these two events are related but I do not know why. I have to admit that I am now stumped, befuddled and am actually contemplating a very reluctant windows reinstall. Can anybody help me out with this problem or make any suggestions that my help Regards Tony
  13. Bigmack, Mate if you are free on Saturday night I am available to marry you LOL. Could you please MSG me for email address if that is OK with you? Thank you Tony
  14. Hello everyone, Yesterday I started MSFS2020 and noticed that the load up has reverted to normal rather than using modern ui 2.0 which I have been using since it was released. I tried to re download it but the file is now unavailable. Is there a replacement for it and if not can anyone tell me where I can download it from. Alternatively, could some kind person DM me for email address and send me a copy of the original file (IF THIS LEGAL) Any information would be very helpful. Thanks Tony Chilcott
  15. When I buy (this, as an aged pensioner with limited income is a financial issue and it is not a BUGS issue) I will also be buying a 4TB SSD and house 2020 and 2024 on the same drive, partitioned. I have to admit that I am impressed with the trailers I have seen but then again, I was also impressed with 2020 trailers and look at where that got me LOL However, I also have to admit that I would really like to be in the game, so to speak, and not leave it to others to sort out my problems for me. I like to feel that, in some limited way, I could contribute to the problem solving. I just think that opting out certainly weeds out some frustrations, but those same frustrations really increase the pleasure when you sort it out or learn from someone else solving the problem, I don't think either way is wrong ... I just know which option I would be taking. I am really looking forward to being able to play this sim of the future and hope to enjoy it as much as 2020 which will definitely NOT be uninstalled. Tony
  16. My one comment is that was an absolute pleasure to watch. I envy his skillset (and his aircraft LOL) THANK you Sir Tony
  17. Hello to you all, I have accepted that all my flights will go from IFR (ATC controlled) to IFR cancellation before the end of the flight. Please note that I am generally using GA aircraft in these instances. For example, I do not know how many times I have been at 5000 feet, 10 NM from my destination and ATC tells me to climb to 10000 feet. I have also arrived overhead destination at 5000 feet before being advised to descend for approach. I simply cannot remember the last time I had an IFR flight to conclusion using standard ATC. When planning a flight I use NAVLOG to set my cruising height and this is never complied with in IFR ATC. It is so annoying. When all these anomalies happen, I simply cancel IFR and carry on without ATC until about 30 NM from destination and then I use the nearest airport route. I think it is important to recognize that default ATC has never been more than barely adequate in any Flight Simulation product. Third party devs may well be the answer here but I have no personal experience with them so I am unable to offer an opinion. It is what it is guys and I have no real expectations that MSFS2024 is going to be any different. That is NOT going to stop me enjoying 2020 or 2024. My cup is half full Regards Tony
  18. Rocky, Just a further thought. There is a chap who has a Youtube channel who has built a 737 cockpit which looks absolutely marvellous. I think his name is Mike and that he was suffering from cancer at one stage. I have not followed him lately but I believe he still posts occasionally. I really do not know if he is actually using MSFS2020 now but it may prove beneficial to check him out. I think he uses three monitors for his outside cockpit view. It has been a while since I saw one of his posts. I hope that helps you because I think he is somewhat a nerdy chap and definitely has a few clues (and a lot of money LOL) His setup is brilliant. Good luck Tony
  19. Rocky, Thanks for your thoughts and reasons which I completely understand. Please note that VR headsets DO take a little time to get used to. I suffered nausea for example and that lasted for about a week of use one hour per day. I also assume that you have watched VR FlightsimGuy on Your tube. He shares a wealth of knowledge. Ultimately though, it is your hardware that would be very hard to give up and I do truly understand that. From that point of view I really cannot help you with a multi-monitor system for MSFS, but I do agree that that would significantly enhance your Flightsim experience. I really hope that someone can help you out mate and I wish you the very best of luck. Regards Tony
  20. Rocky, I ran 8 monitors in fs2004 using a GTX1080ti. My setup was as follows.... 1 x overhead panel mounted above, 3 x cockpit external views (the centre one included the cockpit panel and the other two were just outside views) 2 x external side views (left and right) 1 x FMS panel 1 x pedestal I set up the mouse to scroll between all the screens and I loved it. I just wished I could have afforded touch screens. FSX, P3D and XPlane (10 and 11) could not handle more than 2 screens with my computer specs and I therefore concentrated on FS2004 until MS2020 came out, I abandoned FS2004 and all the multi-screens to persevere with MS2020 (single screen) for about 12 months and thoroughly enjoyed it with reservations. Then I purchased a Quest 2 VR headset and finally realized what flight swimming was all about. It was also significantly cheaper than a multi-screen setup. The downside to this was that with VR spatiality and the ability to judge distances etc so much better, I literally had to learn to fly again. Simply put there is absolutely no comparison between multi-screens and VR. Now, I am very much aware that this is singularly unhelpful to you if you are truly set on developing a multi-screen set up and in all honesty, I could not help you to do that with MSFS2020. IF you have not delved into VR, then I strongly recommend you try it even if it is on a friends device. I found that before I upgraded my computer to a full AMD setup, using a GTX1080 was sufficient to drive the VR headset. My CPU was an AMD R9 3900 and that, despite being ancient by today's standards was OK using slightly downgraded graphics and the Quest 2 which I still have. If you already have and use VR I cannot understand why you would want to go to multi screens for MS2020 or MS2024 but that is me and I am not denigrating your choice. By the way, my controller set up is a standard Saitek Yoke/throttle, pedals, trim wheel, and extra throttle controller (for four engine, flaps and speedbrake) as well as an extra throttle quadrant set up for Gear Up, power and mixture. This is all used mostly by muscle memory and the need to take the headset off and back on again is negated. I genuinely hope that this is helpful to you and that I am not trying to take coal to Newcastle (Aussie expression) All the best Tony
  21. Hey guys, This, to me, is good news and bad. It is, however the statement "that making a product for both platforms is just impossible" which is alarming. IF, that is the case, I am wondering just how many 2020 aircraft are going to be compatible, and how many of these products will be updated to 2024 at no cost at best, or a small fee for the update. I am guessing that the major 2020 releases will be upgraded and it will be the "little Guys" who will have a problem. My contention with that is that it is the "little guys" who need our support more than ever. I understand that Raul will release a very good product but I am somewhat baffled by the fact that if it is that close to release, it must have been based on 2020. The economics of releasing for both is a matter for Raul (and all other developers) and I do not believe any of them deserve any criticism for making their decisions regardless of how good or bad that decision is for us. There is absolutely no point in making a loss on any product (freeware excepted and acknowledged that the standards are not the same) As disappointed as I am with this decision, I am happy to wait for 2024 just to get a new aircraft that FSReborn has put together. His standards are brilliant. Regards Tony
  22. Hello mate, I was just wondering if there is an update on your Phenom300 project. Given the fairly bad to horrible reviews of the Sim Federation effort, I would imagine that your project would be a day one buy for followers of this aircraft. I would also think that there are many of us who follow you are wondering the same thing so any further information would be really appreciated. Thanks in eager anticipation Tony
  23. This is exactly, I repeat, exactly the reason AVSIM is not toxic. There is so very many people who dedicate their time, energy and expertise to eliminate problems and to help people who are not able to sort out a specific problem, be that a bug or simply a problem with hardware or software. Having been a recipient of an incredible amount of help and advice here over the years, I am very able to tolerate or ignore any toxicity in this forum. Toxicity is only effective when people respond to and take the baits offered. It is not something we are actually forced to take on board and lose sleep over. I would like to raise a huge shoutout to everyone who goes the extra mile to help people and they are simply far too numerous to mention here My guess is that there is a ratio between toxic OPs and helpful respondents of about 1 to 100. So very easy to ignore without effort. Peace to all and I believe that I am just one who loves this forum. Regards Tony
  24. Hello all, Given that there has been absolutely no response from the OP I would suggest that you are all preaching to the converted because he just is not here anymore. 16 contributions does not really suggest a serious commitment to flight sim generally. I guess it is time to move on ... conserve energy and concentrate on those whose opinions actually mean something. I bid the OP bon voyage and a good life wherever he is headed in the future. Tony
