Are long startup times normal
fsxmissionguy replied to fsxmissionguy's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I'll try that and report back. I do have a few things in the Community folder, including an airport add-on I'm developing. -

I'm watching it load using Performance Monitor. It is reading ONLY files from the OneStore directory (not the Community directory where add-ons live). It also takes very long once I pick an airport to take off from to actually get to the Ready To Fly part (15 minutes or so). This seems ridiculously long for a computer of this caliber (3ghz, 16gig RAM, SSD drive.) The long load times seem strictly related to the number of files that must be read from disk. Just wondering if others see this as well. -
I have a pretty good computer (3Gz i7) with MSFS installed on the main SSD drive. It takes approximately 11 minutes from the time I hit open until I get to the main lobby of the game. Is this normal? (I watch the startup with Task Manager and MSFS is the only thing doing anything. Just constant reading from the disk drive and allocating memory.

When are we going to get a functional mission script editor? -
US Airports in development

KBCT Boca Raton, FL - Kevin Greene -
I was a mission designer for FSX Acceleration! and also a third-party mission designer, so naturally, I'm interested in seeing more on the mission side. Is Asobo going to complete the Script Editor (mission scripter) now that the 40th Anniversary has been released. I was really disappointed in some of the missions they tried to recreate. For example, in the Sitka Approach mission, you're told the airport is behind you when it isn't. Also, the runway wasn't even flattened? Has grass on it? I'm going to re-create that airport and it probably won't take me more than a week at most. I'll release it on Flightsim.co when it's done for anybody interested in a free download.

Not flyable any more
fsxmissionguy replied to fsxmissionguy's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Just for clarification, I'm running a brand new system with just Microsoft Flight Simulator installed on it. No add-ons or any other software installed. Specifically for the purpose of testing Flight Simulator. Am also patiently waiting for the mission API so I can start making some great content again for you guys! -
Welp ... after the update, attempted to fly the NY-DC content. Approaching New York, the sim got very laggy, eventually crashed to desktop between the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. This on a brand-new, very high-end computer with very high-end graphics card. Reminds me of the original release of FSX, which was also unflyable. Full disclosure: I worked for Aces on FSX-Acceleration. Guess its back to waiting for the next update.
